Retirement. Jeez, I should have done this earlier than age 49. Really. It's great. Poverty is easy in the face of never again having to deal with awful people and tedious repetitive work.
Public libraries. They are heaven on earth to me.
My brain. My sense of humor. Literacy. All those gifts of genetics, rearing, accident that make up me, a person it is fun to be.
Everything else, really. The net, pay as you go cell phones, laptop computers, the internet including the ease of internet banking, having enough food and potable water, living in a time when women had some rights (though we did have to fight for them--I envy girls of today) and freedoms (including sexual freedom, which was a great kick back in the day for me), the coyotes singing at night, the javelinas who woke me up last night, LED indoor lights, the way Orion looks in the sky this time of year. Not having to dig a well with a shovel or hoe a corn field daily or muck stalls or butcher my own cows and pluck my own chickens or eat unleavened, unsweetened corn cakes three times a day the way my ancestors did. Pretzels and skim milk. Baked chicken and potatoes. How cheap potatoes are. I could go on for 1000 pages about things great and small.

Now Be Thankful D Swarbrick / R Thompson
When the stone is grown too cold to kneel In crystal waters I'll be bound Cold as stone, weary to the sounds upon the wheel
Now be thankful for good things below Now be thankful to your maker For the rose, the red rose blooms for all to know
When the fire is grown too fierce to breathe In burning irons I'll be bound Fierce as fire weary to the sounds upon the wheel
Now be thankful for good things below Now be thankful to your maker For the rose, the red rose blooms for all to know
When the stone is grown too cold to kneel In crystal waters I'll be bound Cold as stone, weary to the sounds upon the wheel
Now be thankful for good things below Now be thankful to your maker For the rose, the red rose blooms for all to know

There's a whole passel of things for which I am thankful, but among the most pertinent here are my board friends and their lively, unfettered brains. Yaaaaayyyyyy! I'm also surprisingly thankful to have a robot in my life. Go figure.
