So does anybody else have a goodreads account? I actually prefer the Shelfari website, but my wife begged me to use goodreads since that's what she uses. Mine's still a work in progress because I had to transfer all my stuff from shelfari, but it's still fun to see all the books online though. Here's mine: www.goodreads.com/review/list/2898786?shelf=my-real-read-shelf

I occasionally poke around that site, but I don't have an account. Does putting up some of your own likes/wants/etc., actually lead you to good recommendations? I'm always a bit leery of the whole "If you liked that, you'll like this" thing because it seems like a shot in the dark and people like things for different reasons.
Still, it'd be nice to hear a firsthand experience.

Hm, I can't comment on that from firsthand experience. I never actually pay attention to the recommendations because I already have a ridiculous "to read" list just compiled from friends' recs, authors I've already established I like, and basic buzzworthy stuff.
I basically just like a place to organize my books. We have bins and bins of books here at home, numbered with lists on our computers of what's in them simply because between all our books and our 800 dvds...there's not enough wallspace for it all...heh.
Some of the lists/clubs they have are fun though (some are also awful however tbh).
