I was perusing the paper in Chicago the other day, and they were talking up the newly redubbed Czech movie (which was originally released in 2009), "Toys in the Attic". The English voice talent is pretty impressive: Forest Whitaker, Joan Cusak, Carey Elwes (The Dread Pirate Roberts), and, in the starring role as the doll "ButterCup" (nice bit of casting there of Elwes, come to think of it) is none other than: Miss Vivian Schilling. She also wrote (the adaptation), produced, and directed it, which as we've seen, she has a penchant for. And I have to ask - has this already been brought up elsewhere on the boards? I can't find any reference to it, and I can't *believe* I'm the first to notice it. Oh Vivian - how we've missed you. Won't you, won't you? www.imdb.com/title/tt1342403/Gare

vivian schilling is pretty fascinating. she has a home page where she talks about what a great novelist and screenwriter and actress she is, mentions soul-taker as a 'cult classic,' but mentions mst3k not at all. she seems like she takes herself rather seriously--which makes the jokes M&tBs make at her expense totally right on--and i bet she detests MST3k, even though let's face it, it's at least 60, 70 percent responsible for whatever minor fame she enjoys has come to her thanks to that show.
apologies if this is actually you, vivian. i love your work.

My sister and I still quote the nun saying "I can see you" to each other (or, rather, one of the guys imitating a nun as if she said that...)
While Soultaker is far from fine cinema, I never really had any ill-will against it. Then again, I've never seen it without Mike and the Bots helping me through it, so maybe I'm not a fair judge here.

apologies if this is actually you, vivian. i love your work. Nope, I'm pretty sure I'm not Vivian. Wait, lemme check.... hmm.. no poodle hair... no 80's mullet-having boyfriend... mom not checking me out in the bathroom... Nope, I'm good. And yes, I agree - she's bound and determined to have her 'work' taken seriously. On IMDB, there's a shot of her posing with The Arnold at the Saturn Awards or something. That must have been a bit of an ego boost to begin with, but in the case of 'Attic', her name is now assoicated with actual (though somewhat B-list, these days) stars. Though to be fair, I would love Carey Elwes in anything, even if he was just reading the phone book. Gare

Well, considering how hard she's kept working to keep her hand in the game (especially as a woman) I won't begrudge her any success she finds.
But Soul Taker is still MST gold.
I'll race you to film obscurity!
