Hey everyone! Though I just recently joined this place, I noticed this place didn't seem to have a general chat thread. Some of the other forums I've been to have one, and I thought it'd be nice to have one here too. I know there's that "Instant Message thread" in the Rick Sloane board, as well as the "Raise Your Post Count' thread in Games, but this is a bit different. When Joel or Mike & the Bots aren't talking about the movie they're riffing in between movie signs, sometimes it seems like they're just hanging around the bridge talking about...whatever. So yeah, this is kinda like that. Basically, this is a thread where we can have some friendly, off-topic, shoot-the-breeze chit chat about whatever you want that might not need it's own thread here, but isn't really "nonsensical" enough to go in the Rick Sloane board or IM thread either. Though of course, that doesn't mean we can't have some fun in this thread as well. Any Mods/Admins reading this: if you could pin this thread to the top of the board, that'd be great. And if this gets too big, we can just make a new one. So, to start things off, how are you guys doing? I'm really glad Spring is finally here, we had a cold as heck winter here in Utah.

Sounds like a good idea... welcome aboard! Winter is still raging here. A bone chilling 46 degrees today in the Tarheel state. I'm going to wear a jacket. Brutal.

I've fashioned Puxatawney Phil's pelt into a primitive lean-to for warmth.
And I thought he smelled bad... on the OUTside.

Well I guess I spoke too soon, last night we had a storm come in and gave us a little more snow and cold air. Mother Nature sure has a sick sense of humor.

In a couple weeks it will probably 80 degrees or something.
And, hi!

Hmm, I thought we would've had more posts in here by now. Granted, the other forum I frequent is very active compared to this place, and we tend to have several of these "general" threads as a catch-all for the small talk and to help reduce extraneous threads. However, those general threads also happen to be the most active too, so don't be afraid to post a lot in this thread as well. Anyways, I recently got myself a Microsoft Surface tablet. Even though it's the RT version and not the fancy Pro one, I actually like it a lot. I do wish they had more apps for it though, but despite that it's great for browsing the web on sites like these. This forum works great on it while I'm on the train to work.

So two explosions went off at the Boston Marathon. Several people were injured, but no reports of any fatalities yet.
No one is sure yet if this was a terrorist attack or perhaps a electrical malfunctioning, though I'm sure more details will emerge as the story develops.

Oh gosh, that's terrible. I'm hearing two people are dead along with dozens injured now.
And I also read they found another bomb that didn't go off, so it might've been a terrorist attack.

Now it's said to be 3 people dead and around 140 people or more injured. My sympathies go out to everyone effected by this tragedy.

Well, Triple_sSs, I think this thread has run its course. Unfortunately the board is not as active as it once was. After nearly ten years as a board, it's not surprising that much of the community has either moved on or just checks in. The show having been gone for as long as it has is also a factor.
I'm also going to unsticky this. Since the last comments relate to the Marathon bombing, it's time. As a native Bostonian, I have not weighed in and likely will not, but leaving the thread hanging with that as its end seems wrong.

Yes, you're right. I can understand. At first I thought this thread would be a good way to have a bit more activity going on here, but I can see that it hasn't really changed anything since making it. Oh well, at least I tried.
And unsticking the thread is fine with me, hasn't exactly been a hit anyway.

A gust of whistling wind...tumbleweeds pass...a wolf howls in the distance. "Hello-0-0-0? Echo-0-0-0!" (Clarification: According to this, I'm the ONLY one viewing this site at the moment). Edit: Okay, all of a sudden there're 8 other people

Well, I was just driving home from work, and for several miles watched a pall of smoke rising into the cloudless California sky. Kept thinking I would pass it, but at three blocks it was still on a near direct bearing to my house, and three fire units were going that way code 3.
Looked to be close by and upwind, so I quickly set sprinklers out to soak as much as I could. Thankfully we have blue sky again now. Looks like they've stamped it out, but I'm keeping the sprinklers going.
