Since alcohol can be used as a spider killer probably not. Then again, it wasn't a "normal" spider so who knows.

What did Mr. Miller do after Eegah was killed?

He feels kind of weirded out because he had encouraged Roxy to basically throw herself at Eegah in the first place, so he blames himself for her emotional distress. All that seems to make her happy anymore is Tom, so Mr. Miller swallows his pride out of guilt and decides to let the two kids see each other without him constantly sniping at Tom. Roxy eventually comes out of her funk, and she and Tom continue dating. She does insist that if he keeps singing about girls, either he not use any name or at least don't use any other name but hers, and he agrees. Mr. Miller does write a paper about Eegah, but again out of guilt he lets Roxy read it and decide if he should publish it. She lets him sweat for a while but eventually give him the go ahead. Nothing much comes out of him publishing it, other than he gets some flak from those who don't believe Eegah really existed, but he is at least able to back up his claims with evidence from Eegah's cave and the police reports, so he doesn't become a laughing stock.

He did drive again because his father needed his help on the farm, although it was many years before he took a train. He became an ultra-careful driver who obeyed all traffic laws to the letter. He never passed anyone, always did the speed limit or slightly under it, and never, ever took his hands off the wheel. He held the steering wheel like a vise and never drove with one hand or his butt cheeks. His friends, knowing what he had been through, don't make fun of him except behind his back.
