I just found out that retired professional wrestler and AWA world heavyweight champion Nick Bockwinkel passed away Saturday night at the age of 80. Bockwinkel was referenced in a few MST3K episodes along with AWA promoter Wally Karbo.
As a Midwesterner and AWA fan I was sad to hear about Bockwinkel's passing. I was wondering if other MST3K fans wanted to share memories of Bockwinkel. He was a big-name wrestler in the Midwest so I was figuring others here would remember him also.

I wish I could say I remember him, but he must have been a bit before my time (or just outside my view, for whatever reason). But if he was a riff on an MST3K episode, he's good in my book.
Rest well, sir.

He wrestled in the AWA in the early 1980's, along with Hulk Hogan, Tito Santana, Andre The Giant, and many others. Bockwinkle was managed by Bobby(The Brain)Heenan.(Or Bobby The Weasel Heenan, depending on your view). Bockwinkle was a great wrestler and great champion. He will be missed. RIP

I loved Nick as a bad guy back when the AWA was solid. The way he looked down on the audience with disdain. And he could really wrestle. RIP, Mr. Bockwinkel.

Wow I can't believe he was 80! Seemed like yesterday he was between the ropes teaming with The Crippler. His promos were always a little different than the norm. Cool, calm and arrogant was his M.O. Great one on the mic and in the ring. RIP.
