Got my blu-ray and USB last night! I have to say, this has been the best Kickstarter I've ever backed. Rewards are well produced and plentiful, they delivered on their promises and they offered tons of communication. I never felt left in the dark on things. The blu-ray set itself is probably the best reward (sorry Funko Popheads). If the bonus disc is indeed exclusive to the campaign, then the Ballyhoo doc is an excellent bonus and one the greedy side of me is happy the general public is not getting. Clocking in at an over an hour, they really covered a lot. The only bits I wish they covered that they didn't were the boneheads, Synthia, the music and the theater segments. I do wonder how they will handle a general release. While the 7 episode discs work as a season set, they could also go for seven double feature releases at $20 a pop. I noticed original art was done for each film and they seemed to work in tandem. Perhaps this will be reworked into cover art? Anyway, if we get a season 12 or not, I am happy with the whole experience. Here's a pic of most of my rewards:

I haven't actually opened my bluray set yet, can't decide if I want to. But, it looks like there are no mini-movie posters in it. If so, that's a bummer. I've really liked those as we've been getting them in the regular MST3K dvd releases over the years.

Why would you not open it? There's a bonus disc filled with unseen stuff. --- Blooper reel is only 4 mins and is not titled Poopie! 3

So, it's official, they messed up the Mystery Gifts. I just got an email from Ivan and it sounds like lots of people didn't get them. I think it's all the people that actually paid for them as an add-on, which is (ironic) funny since people are complaining they're not worth it and the people who didn't get it are the ones that actually paid extra like a real product for it.
Oh, and they don't have any money to give refunds, so they're not sure what they're gonna do. I'm old and not poor (and am disappointed with and don't care about a Funco repaint) so I'm not to broken up, but man, this is more bad news for the finish line of the kickstarter.
Okay, wait, there's one other piece of news and I'm gonna post this in the other thread too--Ivan's last line of the email states,
"In the meantime, we’re sorry (again) for this mixup, and we’re so grateful for your patience — we hope you enjoyed the other rewards you received, and are still enjoying Season 11. We’re hoping to have more news about Season 12 very soon, so stay tuned."
So, there you go--official mention at least of future episodes.

"they don't have any money to give refunds,"
??! They're selling merch. They had a profitable tour. There's money.

Yeah you would think. Again, I'm not hard up for a quick fix, but I agree that part didn't come off too well to me either. The quote from the email was,
"And, because we already spent most of your contribution making Season 11, we don’t have the money to offer you a full refund. (And even if we could, that would be pretty disappointing after all this time.) If you’re upset about this, please know that we’re just as upset, and we are going to figure out how to make it up to you."

Release as many KTMA episodes as they can and we can call it even?

Release as many KTMA episodes as they can and we can call it even? Honestly it would have been a better mystery gift.

"they don't have any money to give refunds," ??! They're selling merch. They had a profitable tour. There's money. I think it goes to show how much they actually overextended themselves financially. I'm pretty sure Joel only ever expected to fund, at most, 9 episode via a much smaller number of fans. It would've been much more manageable that way as far as the amount of time you can take to make an episode, not to mention spending much less time and labor on buying/shipping rewards to people. Optimally, 12 episodes was probably the absolute most they could do before overextending, but they blew right by that. Add to this their underestimation of how much it would cost to make an episode (probably partly due to expensive labor costs in LA) and needing to use Netflix's license money to finish up the episodes, I'd say they got themselves into quite a financial pickle. The tour was probably partly a stopgap to add funds so they could finish up their obligations for reward shipment, and the tour probably barely broke even, two shows were cancelled (and there's always cost overruns). So now they're effectively broke, with no contract renewal yet from Netflix, probably having to borrow money from Shout Factory just so they can finish shipping rewards to people because they were so successful in the first place. Talk about irony.

That's a lot of guesses and assumption there DK, but I agree to the general idea that Joel never envisioned 14 eps and 10s of thousands of backers to please. To be fair though, it was him on Kickstarter wrap-up night gleefully announcing more eps if they reached dollar amount X and Y.

To be fair though, it was him on Kickstarter wrap-up night gleefully announcing more eps if they reached dollar amount X and Y. The part about the tour not being financially successful as an assumption on my part, admittedly. But the part about them needing the Netflix license fee (~$1 million) just to cover production costs for the season comes from interviews. They had a VERY tight budget and its very easy to see where they might've gotten in trouble.

I don't understand why it is hard for them to think up an alternative mystery gift. The Funko Pop has been seen as pretty divisive. Why not get the cast to autograph something or give away all those wood cut props from season 11?

Why not get the cast to autograph something or give away all those wood cut props from season 11? That’s assuming those props weren’t already given away, and that there would be enough of those to fulfill the missing mystery Gifts. Plus, then you might start getting people who received the original mystery gift complaining that they would rather have had that.

Yeah, I would love to have an alternate Mystery Gift, as I have virtually no interest in a weird repaint figure, signed or not. But, I can't see how they could go with this option thinking of all the current unhappy Mystery Giftees that would then be even more unhappy with their current gift.
Really, the only way to go is getting more of the same thing made, giving money back, or giving something new that would ALSO be available to other people--like a free (and maybe signed) version of upcoming season 12 or something.
I DO think they are pretty well into a corner and up a creek here as they have a marginally bad choice that's collided with a very real mistake, and I really don't see an 'everyone is happy' solution being even feasible.
