No topic on this one yet?
Good show. Even with riffing, that was a rough watch. I understand it's something of a horror classic, but... I'm really not sure why. Clever twist, but not much is done with it. There's some okay spooky shots in there, I guess. What an empty movie. Could make for a mind-numbing marathon with the likes of the Coleman Francis trilogy and Starfighters. The opening shorts were the real highlight. They made another short about grass masks?! How? Why? Why?!
Favorite riff of the evening: "You wanna know how I got these scars?"

Ultimately it was a spotty show. There were some high points and very dry points. Same with the shorts: the witch one was good, the mask one not so much as there seemed to be too many openings without a riff.
Not a fan of the movie, but was disappointed that they used the colorized version (which looked hideous on a large screen). I thought they weren't working with Legend anymore? Why did they use this print?

I wondered that too! They've riffed this before and used the colorized print, so I guess that's why. The movie is much, much better in black and white.
I thought this one was quite good! Not the gutbuster that Manos or Birdemic were but a good solid entry. My favorite laugh: Bill's "Dead guy, we can see you" in the doctor's office, because he said it right when every person watching the movie would be muttering that exact thing.

I would guess that a younger audience will respond better to a color film than a b&w one. I'm drawing a blank, but haven't all of the RiffTrax Live events been in color?

I enjoyed the show overall, but I hate hate HATE the RiffTrax theme song. It makes me cringe every time. Couldn't Mike, Bill & Kevin have come up with something better?!
I'm sure the film would have been much more atmospheric in b&w, colorized versions always look grotesque and UN-natural IMO. It was the first time I've seen CARNIVAL OF SOULS, and despite dragging in some spots, was quite riffable.
