If you’ve seen episode 1114 then you know that Jonah got eaten alive by Reptilicus Metallicus at the end. With no reassurance to that unexpected predicament, it’s time for some silly speculation! So, is this the end for our new host or will Jonah somehow survive being monster meat? If it's the former then it could be the shortest run for a host in MST3K history.

In a recent podcast, Jonah assured everyone that he thinks he will survive. Paraphrasing here: "My character knows his way around mechanical things and I've been working on that spacesuit you see at the end all season." When one of the hosts asked if he was just going to be a transitional host the way Christopher Eccleston ended up being a transitional Doctor, he said "I'm going to be your Eccleston and your David Tennant."

It'll be interesting to see how that is adressed provided Netflix is smart and picks it up for more episodes. While I wasn't taken with season 8's story ark, I kinda hope season 12 continues to have a loose ark like this season. It's one of the changes I felt worked well this season, and made me warm to Kinga and Max more as the new mads.

I'm fairly certain anyone who thinks Jonah is dead is looking too deeply into it and taking the show too damn seriously. Next season he will be alive and well and they'll come up with some explanation that makes no sense but is amusing in its concept as to how he's back on the SOL.

Well, in the Bible, Jonah survived in the belly of a whale, so perhaps this Jonah will do the same, except, you know, in the belly of a metal Reptilicus.

They could always pull the "It was all a dream!" gag. It worked for Dallas, sort of.

What if Jonah is mostly indigestible? Y'know, like corn?
He does wear a yellow jumpsuit, after all.

I think it's pretty obvious Jonah survives... who else could that have been going for a space walk outside the SOL at the very end of the episode!??

Here's what I can picture happening if Jonah returns.
The reptilicus has an upset stomach from eating Jonah, and then it ends up barfing him back out. Jonah ends up flying at a fast-paced speed into the tube that aims back into the satellite of love.
Hey, it's Mst3k, they come up with cheesey stuff like that.

Did he just let slip that Season 12 is a go?

That interview was only a week after the new season dropped. I think he was just speaking hypothetically.
