Even though I check in every day I really never post much...and I have no idea why!

Ten years for me on Aug. 7th. Though I do have periods when I disappear for a while. But it keeps pulling me back.

I think the advent of Facebook was the first real hit we took. Even now, I'm still in touch with a few departed board members that way. There are lots of old members that I miss, and some more that I don't. But I know I sleep a little better knowing that Mod City is still at his post. Semper Fi, my friend!
I'm here most days, and I still watch old episodes as often as ever. My problem is that I used up all of my creative ideas for threads back in 2007. I'm just not as funny or interesting as I used to be. And considering how low of a bar that was, that's saying something.

I'll have been on here 9 years in September. Holy crap! That can't be right! Feels like I'm still that new chick who keeps elbowing in once in a while. It's hard to come up with new stuff to say about the show that hasn't already been covered. (Why's Crow facing the wrong way? What's "I thought you were Dale mean? Heh-heh). I still read the stuff they put up on Satellite News, but they changed it so you have to be linked in to make a comment. I have a Disqus account, but I forgot my password, and I don't know how to change it. (I wrote it down, but maybe I typed it in wrong initially, because no matter how carefully I type in what I wrote, it says it's wrong). When I try to sign up with my e-mail, it says there's already an account with that e-mail, when I put that I forgot my password, it says it will send me an e-mail with a temporary password so I can change it, but I never get the e-mail and they have my correct address, so I don't know why I never get this stinkin' e-mail. I don't know how to contact them. Nothing ever works. And I'm not joining crappy Facebook or Twitter just to comment on Satellite News, so, there ya go. On here, I usually just comment on other TV shows or write something in Gypsy's Games. I'm running out of ideas for the old run of the show. Can't think of many comments for the new season yet, I'll have to watch all the eps a few more times. And, as you can see, I type a lot without really saying anything, so... But, still here.

Ah, the golden days of message boards! I used to mainly frequent Godzilla boards (and still am active on Monster Zero.. though activity there has slowed to a trickle), but ended up joining this site after I kept noticing the majority of MSTies thought Sandy Frank still owned the Gamera films.
It's a bummer (and rather strange, given how small our fandom is) Satellite News no longer links to this site. But sadly social media has taken over and ye old message boards have suffered. Which is a shame, because there's still a wealth of information to be found on many movie/TV show boards around the web.

That's my problem: I love discussing nerdy stuff, love the old message board system, but now the conversation has moved on and, while reaching more people than ever before, these platforms tend to all disagree with me. It doesn't help that it seems that every person I like who's social media account I check up on spends a good quarter of the time talking about the flaws of the platform, the abuse, the user un-friendliness. Maybe one day I'll find the perfect social media platform: free of racist relatives and family friends, free of armies of troll bots, easy to navigate, able to sustain long and detailed conversations... *sings Over the Rainbow*

Using Disqus on any site sounds good, but the problem is that anyone can post an irrelevant political comment regardless if any article or site encourages this type of discussion. That only serves to rile up users and launch a flame war, if anyone is willing to take the bait that is. It's no wonder the comments section are considered toxic. The same could be said for Facebook, though the problem isn't as prevalent depending on which page you visit. I stopped looking at my news feed as most of the posts tend to consist of people getting outraged over what have you, not to mention that such posts can ruin your day. I prefer to look at my friends' post on their profile, but I've become very selective on which ones I look at as some of them have a superiority complex that makes them no better than the people they like to complain about, even if I agreed with their viewpoints or not. (I'm sure some of you feel the same way.) Maybe it's better to hide under a username than to risk your public image on social media.

Facebook right now is nothing but a bunch of people throwing tantrums over the littlest things ever.
So yeah, I can agree with the above post in saying that I avoid news feeds.

I discovered this board through Satellite News. I did originally come on this board to discuss MST3K-related items. I do not think it was particularly long before I gravitated away from talking about MST3K strictly (and stopped visiting Satellite News) and preferred to read topics from the other categories. And that is a reason why I dislike the new organization of the forums, shunting all of the topics into "Rocket Number Nine"; it comes across as an effort to discourage forum discussions that are not MST3K-related, and it seems to have worked.
In what I define as the heyday of this board, I liked tuning in to read MJ posts about the Beatles or Marlon Brando. My favorite thread was where he requested users to just post their favorites from arts and entertainment, and provide pictures. I worked a bit in Photoshop to compile my list, and now it appears all those images are now broken anyways.
I liked some of the ideas I had for forum games, particularly "Hangman" and "Cast A Video Game Movie". I challenged MJ's Beatles thread with my own thread about Pink Floyd. However, years later, I am not sure I fully agree anymore with what I originally wrote. I also enjoy that my design for the "Frank's TV" topic is being used.
The birthday thread appears to have not been commented in for over a year. I wonder if the reorganization of the board has something to do with this.
My lack of activity here can be summed up with one word: WORK. I think the bulk of my activity was during my lengthy unemployment. Now I work fifty to sixty hours a week, and I have not the time for writing topics for the board. So, my activity over the past few years was limited to "Hangman". And now that jkazoo has seemingly left the board, so goes "Hangman".
There are no more Mr. Atari lists. There are no more MJ lists. Reasons for coming on this board have evaporated. I still do visit this board on a daily basis, but it is more or less just to keep abreast of what celebrity has recently died.
As for the idea that the release of MST3K2 should be drawing up excitement in this board, well, I may have my own things to say about that soon.

I signed up back on Aug 11, 2005. Tape trading and other reasons.
Honestly, I'd change my username if I could. It's an old one I used to use everywhere online but it's painfully dated.
I should go through my old posts. A lot of them vanished when the trading forum disappeared.
I still remember being one of the Lee Lovingood victims, the KTMA Superdome ending discovery... now I just kind of feel old. Has it really been that long?

It's actually really easy to change you username. Just go to your profile options and type in a new name. It's how we've been doing Halloween costumes every year. The only thing you can't change is your login name. You're stuck with that.

I remember CowboyCrocket - did that hilarious Time of the Apes caption contest some years ago. I remember back around 2007 or so - I used to log in every afternoon at a certain time, and I lived in another country with a 13 hour time difference, and right about then Skyroniter would be logging in early in the morning, every day, before he went to work. I logged in a month ago or so and noticed that Sky had not logged in since the previous month. I was shocked. What a devoted trooper. I bought about 70 dvds from Sky over a 10 year period. I remember BusDriver - or BD2H as she referred to herself. I remember the Diet Kolos vs Van Hagar argument, and it was over Diet Kolos' episode reviews that I always liked. I remember when Big Stoopid got banned. I remember when Mod City was ModCityGun, and I know what ModCityGun means (because I asked him). I don't post often any more but I do like many of the people here.

I'm basically in lurk mode. I've been around here at least seven years, mostly just keeping an eye out for Shout! News. I've actually just been so busy, I just don't visit unless something is in the news. Wish I were around more, but things change.
Still loyal to the show, still watching, still hoping to convert more to this passion that I've had for twenty years.
Twenty... YEARS.
