The commercial is fine, I just wish it wasn't repeated EVERY SINGLE COMMERCIAL BREAK, lol.

You sound like me with that Sure Shot Owl Canon camera commercial from 1994, lol. But I see your points.

The commercial is fine, I just wish it wasn't repeated EVERY SINGLE COMMERCIAL BREAK, lol. Wasn't that every commercial break on CC? I remember when my college roommate and I found CC on our dorm cable box in fall of 93. It was AWESOME--Kids in the Hall, Whose Line Is It, Soap, SNL repeats, and of course, MST3K. We watched it for hours every day. And we watched all 3 commercials they had too, over and over and over!

Sometimes it's better and sometimes worse in that regard. I find the earlier years during the prime-time parts of the year (July-December) have LOTS of unique ads and promos. Those same years in the "off" months (January-June) have lots of repeats.
Now, the LATER years on CC, 1995-1996, they would drive the same 3-4 commercials INTO THE GROUND, regardless of the time of year.

Alrighty, folks.... I just want to announce that I have a final batch of episodes left to share now that all of my tapes are finally fully-digitized with all of Kolos's wonderful help. But first, I have a special treat to share on this thread: So this is a second shorts compilation tape I made based off an older shorts compilation tape that my dad made around 1999 (roughly) when I was 6 years old and first got into the series (which I had shared on this thread last year that you can find on my channel) in the summer of 2008 when I was 15 years old. The idea initially came into mind while I was capturing the previously aforementioned original shorts tape with the intentions of wanting to burn the entire thing onto DVD (which…… unfortunately, with it being 6 hours….. it was just too big to fit. So I essentially just ended up keeping the file on my now-dead Windows XP computer which I miss greatly, then ended up eventually just tossing it out in 2011 after realizing it was just taking up WAY too much space). While I had always enjoyed watching the original shorts tape and REALLY beat the poor thing to death during the single digit years, I always felt a little bummed that I also had a good portion of episodes with shorts that couldn’t be included in the original tape (with it obviously only having so much space it could use). So while I was capturing that tape at the time, I had decided to make a second shorts compilation tape with the shorts that weren’t otherwise previously taped on the original with the blank VHS tapes I had at the time (yes, I was still recording shows onto VHS in 2008, all of which I had since donated off since commercials weren’t otherwise included and I just didn’t need them anymore), and while I was able to fit a really good portion of them into a nice 6-hour long tape like the original, unfortunately, there were three left over I couldn’t fit, and only managed to put in 16 total with many of them being double theater-segmented, eating up a lot of space. It bummed me out, but there was nothing I could do about it. I only really ended up watching the tape like one time back in 2008, and while it was around this time I was starting my first year of high school that I had other things to focus on and other interests in mind outside of MST, I essentially didn’t really find myself enjoying the shorts lineup as much as I did with the original, and I was still bummed there were three shorts I couldn’t include. It wasn’t until the beginning of last year in 2023 I had watched this one again after giving the original shorts tape one final watch on the VCR for nostalgic memories before sending it off to Kolos for digitizing, and I….. found myself enjoying it a lot more now with age. While the original is still my preferred, it does otherwise make a nice “sequel” tape that archives more of what previously wasn’t/couldn’t be included. Unfortunately, when Kolos finally got around to digitizing this one, there came a MASSIVE headache of trying to get the tape to play correctly due to the fact that we had discovered the source tape in particular REALLY did not give as good results with it not being as reliable of a tape at the time with dubbing old VHS material to a then-current more higher-powered tape (I guess that’s the best way to describe it), with MANY shorts from the Joel section in particular having an AWFUL yellow tinge on the coloring and the quality just not playing nicely at all. We tried it on his JVC originally with horrible results, then got VERY lucky his Sony played more nicely with it. That said, we still had to do some BIG color-correcting with a lot of the Joel shorts in particular, and while he was able to rid of that nasty yellow tinge a lot of them had, there was still some work that needed to be done because Shotcut can only do so much with color-correcting. So I ended up experimenting with color-correcting in Premiere and it….. definitely could get tedious at times. While I was waiting for him to capture the “shorts two and a half-ish” tape I made after originally wanting to make a third and final shorts compilation tape by (potentially) seeing if I could get personal recordings from fans that had episodes with shorts I didn’t personally have on tape in addition to the last three I wasn’t able to include (but alas was just having a TON of rotten Charlie Brown/Milton Waddams/Mr. Bill/Kenny McCormick/every fictional butt-monkey character ever luck, so I decided to throw my hands in the air cancelling the idea and decided to make the “half” tape with the last three shorts I couldn’t include to combine with the “main” shorts two tape as was originally intended to get all of them onto the same tape in 2008), which didn’t end up happening until the very end of last year in December, I did some on-and-off color-correcting experimenting with the shorts that needed fixing, and while I did the best I could, I….. only ended up degrading the entire file completely. And I was seriously lucky AT ALL Kolos still had the tape file on him (we almost even previously shot ourselves in the foot with this tape back in June of last year when I had accidentally recycled the Sony capture of the tape after thinking I had it on my external and needed to clear space, only to realize it was the JVC one and he had only managed to JUST find it in the recycling bin on his computer after HE cleared it off), and alas, I did notice the quality was degraded. So this month, after his help of combining the two shorts tapes together in one big 7-hour file, I really took my time again with this tape starting from scratch and just knowing what really had to be done this time after the experience really helped me learn more with how color-correcting tools work in Premiere, and I am now very happy to finally share this “sequel” tape on my channel. That said, I would like to give an EXTREMELY big thank you to Kolos for dubbing this VHS TWICE after his preferred VCR (the JVC) didn’t play this tape nicely at all, along with his initial help with some color-correcting he was able to do on his end in Shotcut, and getting the “half” tape easily captured and combined with this tape. So yeah, have a watch if you wish. A short you like could very well be in this 7-hour long combined tape. www.youtube.com/watch?v=MqrnAWtgmDg I additionally uploaded this onto my Internet Archive account if you would like to watch this without YouTube's horrible compression with 480p files: archive.org/details/shorts-tape-2

So since Kolos uploaded my April 1992 recording of “Gamera vs Barugon” and included this PSA from my April 1992 recording of “The Sidehackers” (which I had previously shared on this thread): Gamera vs: Barugon: youtu.be/W9FsV7zfU0I?si=dgiCaOT5HKVKnI9eSidehackers: youtu.be/gmD-_EK9ZJY?si=OeXO9xwOA1YmN7Y1PSA : youtu.be/yn827O53MDU?si=9P0_vTsqVFMwHe3RI gotta be honest, when I was rewatching my “Sidehackers” recording one day in 2013, I remember seeing this commercial and thinking “Damn….. I’m amazed this one went over my head as a kid.” Granted, when I would watch my dad’s MST tapes back in the day, I didn’t really pay TOO much attention to the commercials unless it was something that REALLY stuck out for me, whether in a great way (the Pillsbury Doughboy hearty grains commercials, the generations GAP commercial, the Tower Records roller coaster commercials, the no more runs pantyhose commercials, the Donruss baseball cards commercial, the Comedy Central Scheduling department commercials with Blaine Capatch and Patton Oswalt, the cool mint listerine commercials, etc), an unsettling way (the halls of medicine commercial with those creepy faces, Mr. Bill’s face melting at the end of his “We’re All Going to Die” Comedy Central spot, the Sony TV monster commercial, Paul Greenberg accidentally ripping his ear off during a game of charades in a “Vacant Lot” promo, the Comedy Centeal stage blood commercial with Penn himself, a dog licking a board hockey player to death in those awesome “Comedy Central hockey highlights commercials” etc), or an annoying way (those stupid Sure Shot Owl Canon camera commercials, the SNL merrython jingle, those BK “I LOVE THIS PLACE!” commercials etc), and it was an episode I had to watch under the radar at the time cause my dad would NOT let me watch this episode during the single digit years (understandably so), up until adulthood when they did start to interest me more, so yeah, it did come off as a surprise. If any rate though, it was sad to hear his lost his life because of a bunch of idiotic drunk teenagers driving a pick-up truck. Speaking from personal experience, I HATE dealing with pick-up truck drivers on the road. They are absolute PRICKS who think they own the road and just do whatever they want. I can’t tell you now many accidents I’ve nearly gotten into because of those motherf*ckers. (Yeah, I wanted to give this a good 1080p upload before that overrated “Movies and video games tv spots” channel who just rips commercials from already existing uploads with his crappy 480p uploads has a snag with no credit to the original uploaders).

So as promised: here are the remaining MST recordings I have uploaded on my channel both from Comedy Central and Sci-fi that Kolos doesn’t wish to personally upload (and were not otherwise uploaded by him previously), which I give him all my thanks for with his wonderful help: Comedy Central: 515 - The Wild, Wild World of Batwoman - 11/14/93 (10 AM): youtu.be/C0h3F1ap2dg?si=OjNxWdtW1H-2PWoB(GOD do I hate this movie so much!) 605 - Colossus and the Headhunters - 8/21/94 (10 AM): youtu.be/qivHK4u6vUw?si=tQVZoGIMVLW2aA98618 - High School Big Shot - 12/11/94 (10 AM): youtu.be/d30oAKozovg?si=FQf4yuxLGjlpX2uO619 - Red Zone Cuba - 12/17/94 (7 PM): youtu.be/-rCAaMedr3Y?si=qYLbaema6SzWDl8I(The ONLY world premiere recording I know of that Kolos surprisingly wanted to pass on…… but I don’t blame him honestly. “Red Zone Cuba” for me is the WORST of the Coleman Francis flicks, and I always have the same depressed feeling Mike and the bots have when the movie finishes) 606 - The Creeping Terror - 1/5/95 (12 PM): youtu.be/Syv7zh-QAU4?si=tgFEX_uQ6tlIGmNQ(This is one of my favorite 1995 recordings that I would have LOVED to see on Kolos’s channel, but am happy to share none the less!) 610 - The Violent Years - 1/12/95 (12 PM): youtu.be/bQSxxfqhxww?si=9wr93xDw69L6sTjK(This particular recording was my very first Mike episode, and has since become one of my favorite episodes. Again, I would have LOVED to see it on Kolos’s channel but happy to share it on my own!) 621 - The Beast of Yucca Flats - 1/22/95 (10 AM): youtu.be/rUiwEpWWu4g?si=_jR97WDvl2byg5Yu(Please note: Per NBC’s beef with having unauthorized SNL uploads on YouTube, I had to remove the ending. So while nothing from the commercials during the actual episode got blocked, the unedited link is otherwise available on my Internet Archive in the description) And finally: 610 - The Violent Years - 12/24/95 (2 AM) - So……. Really Christmas Day, 12/25 East Coast time: youtu.be/dEQONAV5fFc?si=SP_X6I8vtNd56YZL(The 10 AM airing will be available on Kolo’s channel as he ploughs through the remaining recordings of mine he wishes to upload; yes, I have three copies of this episode. Both airings of this episode in Christmas 1995 were taped the same day; my dad was VERY careless with this last tape as he lost complete interest in taping the show anymore after Frank left. But it is what it is). Now onto the Sci-fi stuff: So unfortunately all recordings of mine have some commercials missing - this was my 10-year-old self trying to save up tape space as much as I could. It is absolutely something I regret now. 822 - Overdrawn at the Memory Bank - 8/9/03 (9 AM): youtu.be/CEB2HWJFUqw?si=i29OO2alqMXkeFKP(Two commercial breaks in this one are missing) 913 - Quest of the Delta Knights - 8/30/03 (9 AM): youtu.be/wihnG2zOfj8?si=pvGtD2_11KyOGB38(The first two commercial breaks in this one are missing) 810 - The Giant Spider Invasion - 9/6/03 (9 AM): youtu.be/4BRV5_rtAjw?si=inrSNxxgA6k7iVlc(The first two commercial breaks in this one are missing) And last of all, ugh…… 819 - Invasion of the Neptune Men - 9/27/03 (9 AM): youtu.be/2SzxFBWxPtk?si=dIeJZ-sD2vJP9O8u(Wow, Japan sucks. Gee, Japan really sucks. Oh, did we mention that Japan sucks? Japan certainly sucks, don’t they? About 70% of the riffing. Yeah, I really don’t like this episode. But anyway, only one set of commercials are missing) As a bonus, here are two commercial break compilations I did save from recordings that I unfortunately did skip over a good portion: From my 8/2/03 9 AM recording of “Girl in Gold Boots:” youtu.be/Kf4jIcN8S2Q?si=pQLYj1ZY92cERfYbAnd from my 9/13/03 9 AM recording of “The Screaming Skull:” youtu.be/ns3gUDm9B-Q?si=u5C8u277CUEA6qpD

Giving the forum a heads up that the Kit Parker films estate just recently took down a full 6 hour tape upload of mine…… all because of “The Wild, Wild World of Batwoman” being on that tape….. from my Internet Archive account.
I’m keeping a SHARP eye on my YouTube channel if the same possibly happens on my individual upload, but I already had to censor episode titles in three other full VHS uploads I have on there (“Jungle Goddess,” “King Dinosaur” and “Radar Secret Service” which I saw the company has the rights to, as well as “The Crawling Hand” which I don’t have recorded on tape)…. And I’m keeping an eye on my uploads of “Jungle Goddess” and “King Dinosaur.”
I’m still a bit pissed my full tape upload was taken down all because of that episode, I since re-uploaded that full tape with the name censored, but if this company went after a full 6-hour tape just because of that one episode on Internet Archive of all places…… they definitely mean business.
So with those titles brought up….. I’d save any broadcast recording uploads you wish to keep while you still can, cause this only happened just last night and who knows if things could potentially get uglier.

It isn’t the first time I’ve had something from Archive removed.
I previously had an August 1990 (incomplete, but full commercials) recording of “The Simpsons” episode “Homer’s Odyssey” taken down by Disney a couple months ago. And if I’m not mistaken, while Wade Williams was still alive, he would also seek out uploads of “Rocketship X-M” on there. Kolos can back me up on that.

So this was something I wanted to bring up on the day Kolos had uploaded my recording of “First Spaceship on Venus” on 3/6/92 since he mentioned the commercial in his description: youtu.be/pDPXPatLYpU?si=NXxvymv_9aPQzxaCBut alas, I could not find the commercial ANYWHERE on YouTube so…… I forced myself to upload it: youtu.be/zIpPZ3o7eI0?si=o7cygqiuzvxPfHh8But anyway, I gotta be honest, this is another commercial that has….. always kind of bugged me since I was a kid. The way the commercial overhypes a kid eating his parents’ cereal like it’s some kind of amazing first discovery. They really tried too hard to overhype an otherwise boring and basic cereal that I’ve reached an age where it’s the one I’d now find myself reaching for on the shelves since gone are the days I could eat something regularly like Coco Puffs or Honey Comb (which actually was a childhood FAVE of mine) or Trix cereal, etc, without my blood pressure acting up from too much sugar (though admittedly I’ll treat myself once in awhile if I REALLY need that comfort inside of me; yeah, having a sweet tooth sucks, lol). Similarly though I’ve always found the Tripples cereal commercials to be pretty annoying with those three head turn jokes thrown in. youtu.be/q3dUr5FPdBg?si=J_C38kk6N--dzjbe

So I've now officially seen seven..... count them..... SEVEN..... broadcast uploads of "Cave Dwellers" on YouTube and one on internet archive, and every time I watch this episode, I officially hate the "Ator" series EVEN more. I ALWAYS have the same reaction Joel and the bots have at the very end. Yeah, my hatred for this movie is about on the same level of Kolos's hatred for "Kitten with a Whip" (which he hasn't been shy about admitting his hate for it, and as someone who LOVES that episode and movie, I see his point of view with it). And the scene of the women being tossed into the snake pit with skulls to die ALWAYS makes me SUPER uncomfortable. On the plus side at least..... the July 1994 recording I saw of the episode last night had a SMALL preview sample of "Limboland," and GOD..... ALREADY I hate that this series is SO hard to find on the internet! Just the small sample ALONE gave me some good laughs. I REALLY hope it will surface back into the public one day. And on another note, I was actually REALLY surprised to see this commercial in particular actually aired as early as July 1994; I have this on my December 1995 recording of "The Violent Years" on its 2 AM Christmas day airing. www.youtube.com/watch?v=wWo5jB7R4lY

I’m sure Movies and video games tv spots, MST rarities or ilovemst3kpromos (or all three) will probably rip this from my YouTube channel and not give me any credit for finding this on Sketch the Cow’s internet archive upload of “Lost Continent” from July 1994 (who I DID make sure to give credit to) once either three of them find it, but I just found a “new,” undiscovered season 6 promo that I don’t even know if it got a “premiering today” or “premiering tomorrow” or “watch a new episode variant” and decided to take the liberty of giving it a solo upload! youtu.be/ipneEz2cO28?si=m_P5LO9dmXnDsxhM Complete WITH that random “HIYA!” sound effect a couple 1994 promos have (to my knowledge, the “Cheese comes from all over the world” bumper and a “Kids in the Hall” bumper), a cameo from Tom Rhodes (surprisingly) AND Penn’s classic “What the HELL is going on here?!” that seemed to be a trend on Comedy Central in 1994. I got a little spark of joy when I saw the “Zombie Nightmare” clips on there. EDIT: So I also JUST found a “Premiering tomorrow” variant on YouTube and decided to put these back to back. Again, I expect either both or one of the other to be ripped by the aforementioned users with no credit.

I was eagerly waiting for Kolos to upload this one on his channel, and I’m happy I can start off my Valentine’s Day (overrated holiday for me) with a smile on my face as I see my recording of my next day 10 AM airing of “EEGAH!” on his channel….. in YouTube’s classic compressed quality! youtu.be/s5KFnu6MSjE?si=FYPYT7mdJstX03oyYeah, this one was definitely a big rewatch for me during the single digit years when I was 7/8. While I absolutely hate “EEGAH!” as a movie, there’s something about that psychedelic 60s feel that gives me a release of dopamine in a funky way….. almost like I’m on drugs without actually being on drugs. I always get a sense of heartbreak every time I see EEGAH die, though. poor Richard Kiel-played caveman had it rough. It’s since become my all-time favorite Joel episode none the less! Also, since he brought it up in the description: A couple of my 1993 recordings have that commercial, but this episode was my introduction to that AWESOME Cool Mint Listerine commercial with “Tarzan Boy” playing in the background! The animation, voice over and music all made it a BIG adrenaline rush for me! I was honestly surprised to find out Pixar animated the commercial, but I DID start to recognize more of that pre-Windows 95 CG look it had, similar to how their “Luxo” films (many that were produced for Sesame Street) looked back in the early 90s. I even took the liberty of putting all three commercials together (the last one only aired in the U.K I believe, the first two came from my tapes): youtu.be/0BxoGIHJbBA?si=zavc-Hu15Ql55tngSince the ending of this recording also has a small bit of the opening to “Just One of the Guys” from the “Back to School Marathon,” I may give it a watch tonight! I’ve been meaning to do that for a while.
