With the thread leaning into music of late, I thought I might take a look at MST3K's - In-Movie Soundtracks While there are lists about the music done by the cast and crew, I could find very little collected on the music in the movie. So I'm going to take a stab at it on a season-by-season basis. To simplify the work, this will be actual songs, not the score, though that would make a nice list on its own. So, I'm going to dip my toe in these musical waters with season 1, as it doesn't require a lot of work. If I miss any, please let me know. Season 1 SoundtrackThe Crawling Hand: * The Rivington's "Bird is the Word" plays on a jukebox Moon Zero Two: * Theme song sung by Julie Driscoll, composed by Don Ellis (July 25, 1934 – December 17, 1978) who was an American jazz trumpeter, drummer, composer, and bandleader. He is best known for his extensive musical experimentation, particularly in the area of time signatures. Later in his life he worked as a film composer, contributing a score to 1971's The French Connection and 1973's The Seven-Ups. Wikipedia Untamed Youth: Les Baxter was your primary songwriter, with assists by Lenny Adelson (Oobla Baby, Rolling Stone), Eddie Cochran (Oobla Baby), and Jerry Capehart (Oobla Baby) * Cotton Picker, Eddie Cochran * Salamander, Go, Go, Calypso, Rolling Stone, Oobala Baby, sung by Mamie Van Doren Women of the Prehistoric Planet? Caliban and Ariel by Desmond Leslie is credited among Soundtracks at IMDB, but it sounds more like score than song. My Hit Parade? Untamed Youth offers up the most music, though none of it really knocks me out. Mostly because I dislike the quality of Van Doren's singing, which is like a warbling, low drone. Cochran's got a better Rock-a-Billy voice, but the song doesn't wow me. The tunes provide some riff fodder, but on their own, they wouldn't crack my Billboard top 50. There's not a lot to chose from, but my song of the year is pretty clear cut, it's the swinging theme from Moon, Zero, Two, sung by the incomparable Julie Driscoll (pictured above), whose voice has been described as throaty, sexy, jazzy and hip. Simply stated, she's got great pipes, and nice range. The instrumentation is big, brassy, percussive, and just groovy as sin, and along with that, the tune is joined to some 60s style animation. Here's the track, sans riffing... Added note. Over at YouTube TarAntXon wrote that "the final cut was speeded up a bit to fit the song into the original title sequence and bars 36 to 39 had to be edited down, with a few minor word changes, probably to enable the song to flow better at the faster speed. Original lyric -- I'm in space and could be spinning crazy, Earthbound boys can stand aside, Man I need I'll meet in orbit, Hold on tight and we would ride And what appears to be used -- I'm in space and ... crazy Earthbound, Stand aside of me ... In orbit, Hold on tight and we shall ride"

Season 2 Soundtracks: The SidehackersI promised it would get more complicated, and so it does, mostly due to the biker trilogy. So I'm going to tackle the second season in bits and pieces, starting with The Sidehackers (or The Side Hackers, if you go by the title card and not the promotional media). I should point out that my mind will be forever stained by the memory of seeing the uncut version - (I'll hide the details for sensitive readers) - {Spoiler}the rape scene is awful and goes on and on - the aftermath, the shot of the woman left hanging from the rafters, her torn dress, bloodied face, and broken neck, was too sickening. I can understand why Trace had such a negative reaction to it. It was difficult to get past this and focus on the music, especially when there's a song on the soundtrack titled "Psychedelic Rape" (Jesus Christ, really?) Track Listing* Five The Hard Way * Strollin' Sunday Morning + * Ha Lese La Di Khanna (A Time to Sow Seeds) + * Sidehacker + * Psychedelic Rape (a bit of this is heard in the MST version) * I Wanna Cry + * Only Love (LP includes 2 instrumental versions - also the vocal version heard in the film, is not the same mix as on the soundtrack release) All songs performed by The New Life / + indicates a track that I'm not certain made it into the MST cut From wiki... The movie's soundtrack LP was issued in 1969 in the U.S. by Amaret Records (ST 5004). The music was composed by Mike Curb (yes, the former Lieutenant Governor of California) and Jerry Styner, with lyrics by Guy Henric, and performed by the psychedelic, West Coast, rock band The New Life. The New Life were formed from the ashes of another band, The Cindermen, who were a garage rock group signed by Moonglow Records in 1965. The New Life was formed by Don Whaley; Alan Shapazian (ex-member of Raik's Progress); Phil Reed; and Duane Scott (also ex-member of Raik's Progress) who was the original keyboard player. Steve Wood, who had been in an Oak Cliff, Dallas, band called The Penthouse, replaced Duane Scott after about a year into the band. Besides the Sidehackers soundtrack, they also scored songs for a film called Black Water Gold. The New Life broke up in 1970. My Hit Parade? Honestly, while I think the band is talented enough, the soundtrack wasn't my cup of tea... save for two numbers - "Five The Hard Way" is a rocking, catchy pop tune with nice harmonies - and while it's a sappy ballad, "Only Love" is an earworm that inspired, "Only Love Pads the Film" (J&TB also contributed their own Sidehacking theme). Both of these are worthy of my MST3K version of the Billboard Top 100, though neither surpasses Moon, Zero, Two, which currently holds my top position on the charts.

Season 2 Soundtracks: Catalina Caper and Wild RebelsContinuing with Two from Two Catalina CaperI'm surprised this didn't get an LP release (if it did I can find no record of it (bad pun). Of course, we all know Little Richard, and we should be familiar with Mary Wells, who was known as "The Queen of Motown". As for the others, The Cascades, had a big hit in the '60s with "Rhythm Of The Rain" - the tune they performed here was written by the Kinks Ray Davies. The final act, Carol Connors, was the lead singer of the pop vocal trio, the Teddy Bears, which also included Phil Spector. They also had a smash hit, "To Know Him Is To Love Him". As a songwriter she wrote "Hey Little Cobra" for The Rip Cords, and co-wrote the Rocky theme, "Gonna Fly Now!" The song she sings here was co-written with Roger Christian, of "Dead Man's Curve" fame. Track Listing* Scuba Party, Little Richard * There's a New World, The Cascades * Book of Love, Carol Connors * Never Steal Anything Wet: Performed by Mary Wells over the opening and end credits My Hit Parade? It might be a lesser number from Little Richard, but it's still Little Richard, even on the goof balls he's a cool cat, with a voice full of personality. Same goes for Mary Wells. Connors gets the best (or second best, depending on preference) number with "Book of Love". I wouldn't call these career highlights for any of the artists, but they're decent and fit the film nicely. (my favorite number is Servo's Creepy Girl, though that doesn't count) Wild RebelsTrack Listing* Wild Rebels, Al Jacobs (he wrote it, not sure if he's singing it too) * Can I Do It, The Birdwatchers (or as J&TB call it, "My Lunch Goes BLEEAH!") * You Don't Love Me, Steve Alaimo with The Birdwatchers (cut from the MST episode, heard above - written by Al Jacobs) * I Like What I Know About You, Steve Alaimo The Birdwatchers were a Florida garage-rock pop band, with a sound that was derivative but enjoyable (the song here, has a Beau Brummels flavor to it), they were good musicians, and showed off some fine harmonies. At the time of filming the bands lineup would have been, Sammy Hall (vocals), Jerry Schills (bass), Eddie Martinez (drums), Joey Murcia (lead guitar), and Robert Pucetti (keyboards - I believe he's the one with the speaking part in the video up top). There's an entire thread devoted to them at this forum for Florida musiciansSteve Alaimo, who had nine singles chart in the Billboard Hot 100 without once reaching the Top 40 in his career (the most by any artist), shows off some sharp, blue eyed soul vocals in the cut track (it's my favorite song of the bunch), and his ballad gets stuck in my head (sometimes I'll catch myself singing the number). I just wish I could find it sans riffing so I could properly judge the tune, but hey, at least we get Joel's cover version in a host segment. Speaking of host segments, the title theme inspired one of my favorites (Wild Rebel's cereal). All told this is one of the better soundtracks from a MSTed movie, though it didn't receive (to my knowledge) an official album release.

Season 2 Soundtracks: The HellcatsOfficial Release Track ListingSide One 1. Hellcats, The Arrows 2. The Angry Mob, The Arrows 3. The Only Way To Fly, Davy Jones and the Dolphins 4. The Marionettes, Somebody's Chyldren 5. Hellcats, Davy Jones and the Dolphins Side Two 1. Hellcats, The Sunrays 2. Mass Confusion, Davy Jones and the Dolphins 3. I'm Up, Somebody's Chyldren 4. Let's Live a Little, Davy Jones and the Dolphins 5. I Can't Take a Chance, Davy Jones and the Dolphins You can listen to the songs here at YouTubeOf those I know showed up on MST3K - Davie Allan and the Arrows did the instrumental tunes, Davy Jones and the Dolphins did most of the vocal numbers, including Hellcats, Mass Confusion, and I Can't Take a Chance (or as J&TB phrase it, "I'm losing my dignity"), Somebody's Chyldren performed "I'm Up". Peter Stanfield created a page on Biker Movie Soundtracks - He notes that there was a 45 release, but it doesn't look like it charted. Side A was Hell Cats [sic], the B-side was The Only Way To Fly, both from Davy Jones and the Dolphins He also wrote... ". . .a real fall in quality . . .Two tracks each from the Arrows and Somebody’s Chyldren, one from the Sunrays who were managed by Murray Wilson, father to the Beach Boys. Davy Jones and The Dolphins covered half of the ten tracks, they had been recording since at least 1962. The Chyldren were an LA band whose small claim to fame was working with Ian Whitcomb and helping him back Mae West in 1966. The album is about as lightweight as a biker soundtrack gets, 90% summertime pop. Best track, ‘Mass Confusion,’ which has a social conscience." I agree with that, Mass Confusion is arguably the strongest track on the album, and I liked "I'm Up", but compared to Wild Rebels, this was pretty rough around the edges. . . though they are on the receiving end of a few good riffs (they were easy to tease lyrically)

Season 2 Soundtracks: Godzilla vs. Megalon / vs. The Sea MonsterActually, that was getting a little long, so I'm going to break the post in two. Godzilla vs. Megalon * Godzilla and Jet Jaguar! Punch! Punch! Punch! by Masato Shimon & Riichiro Manabe The top song of season 2 is still the Jet Jaguar theme, not only for the tune (which is comical on its own), but for the hilarious MST interpretation. Here's a picture of the man who sang the number. That's Masato Shimon who is most known for his contributions to the theme songs of various anime and tokusatsu series. In 1975 he recorded a song "Oyoge! Taiyaki-kun" with only 50,000 yen, but the single sold 4,547,620 copies and became the best-selling single in Japan, a fact certified by Guinness World Records. Here's the radio version of Godzilla and Jet Jaguar! Punch! Punch! Punch! (yes, this got radio play) Others: Rocket Attack USA had the music accompanying the dancer in the club | Ring of Terror had an instrumental band called the "something something" Cool Cats | Godzilla vs the Sea Monster gave us some dance music and the classic Mothra theme. . . From Wikizilla. . . Mothra's Song (モスラの歌 Mosura no Uta) is a song composed by Yuji Koseki for the 1961 Toho film Mothra. The song was initially performed by the musical duo The Peanuts, comprised of sisters Emi and Yumi Ito, who portrayed the Shobijin in the film. A different version of Mothra's song was composed by Masaru Sato for the 1966 film Ebirah, Horror of the Deep, and performed by Pair Bambi (the stage name of Japanese singers Yuko and Yoko Okada). The song's lyrics originate from the Indonesian language, but are approximated to Japanese pronunciations. (BTW, I love the instrumentation in this version, which include a nifty sitar solo)

I love the Beatles but never liked Bugs Bunny or Warner Bro cartoons, so that's like heaven and hell wrapped up in one video. Season 3 Soundtracks: GameraOkay, lets start season 3 with the various Gamera themes. Up top is a tune that was not part of MST lore, but was heard in the American release, Gammera The Invincible. Both the vocal and instrumental versions are included in the video - titled simply, "Gammera", it was written and recorded for the film by Wes Farrell and Artie Butler as "The Moons." Months after its release, a bootlegged instrumental version of the song was released in the U.K. as "Shing-A-Ling At the Go-Go." Before that was "Song of Gamera" from Gamera vs. Gaos, the tune was composed and arranged by Akira Komachi, with lyrics by Hidemasa Nagata (also a film producer and vice president of the company), and performed by the Hibari Children's Choir. The song was released by Daiei Records as a single. Historian August Ragone deduced that the song may have been inspired by the instrumental "Gammera" by The Moons (posted above) But the most famous and essential MST version was the "Gamera March" (ガメラマーチ Gamera Māchi) by Hidemasa Nagata and Kenjiro Hirose, a former songwriter at Columbia Records in the 1950s, who made the jump to scoring films. and who was known as 'the hitmaker' (the vocals are credited to the Daiei Children's Choir). This theme was introduced in Gamera vs. Viras and was subsequently heard in Gamera vs. Guiron, Gamera vs. Jiger, and Gamera vs. Zigra. I could locate no information on whether these were big hit records, but the March was a smash on MST3K and inspired many versions of the song in skits and theater riffing.

Season 3 Soundtracks Pod People (aka Extra Terrestrial Visitors)Track Listing* The Engines Roar (aka Burning Rubber Tires, aka Hear the Engines Roll, aka Idiot Control), sung by Librado Pastor * Sara, unnamed band This is a tough nut to crack, but finally, I found this from Mental Floss"The song "Rugen los Motores" ("The Engines Roar," incorrectly listed on IMDb as "Hear the Engines Roll") was co-written by Librado Pastor and Santiago Pineda, who had worked together in a regionally successful Spanish pop group called Los Roberts in the late 1960s. That's Pineda singing the phonetic English lyrics on the track that actor Ian Sera dispassionately lip-synchs to in the film."I did watch the Spanish language version, Los nuevos extraterrestres (The New Extraterrestrials) and when they came to to the song, it was in English, so I gather they never recorded a version in Spanish. in 2014 Yeoman Lowbrow named "Burning Rubber Tires" one of their 5 Unspeakably Awful Songs of 1980s Horror Cinema and wrote... "Repetitive, woefully generic, and best of all, the lyrics are incomprehensible. This would have been terrible on a record, but this embarrassing mess is being filmed, and the results are beyond cringeworthy. The moment at the end when the supposed rock star signals “It Stinks” has become something of an iconic moment among B-movie nerds. Most of the notoriety of “Hear the Engines Roll Now” is owed to Mystery Science Theatre 3000 who parodied it brilliantly."
Daddy-OTrack Listing* Rock Candy Baby, Dick Contino * Angel Act, Dick Contino * Wait Till I Get You Home, Dick Contino Unbelievably this was as tough a nut as Pod People. . . how? You have John Williams debut film score, and the Dick Contino music, I should have found oodles of soundtrack info. While there was a bootleg CD for the Williams material, I was unable to find trivia or info on who wrote most of the Contino numbers (though one site says John Williams did the honors). However I did learn that Rock Candy Baby was written by Jack Lloyd and Allan (Alan) Copeland, and was recorded by Allan Copeland and the Hotrodders, you can hear the original version at youtube... www.youtube.com/watch?v=9CpDocN7OD8Overall, the numbers are typical 50s style pop, standard chord progressions for the time... but what's better than the tunes are the funny comedy that goes with them - Hike Up You're Pants is a gem. BTW, you can see a clip of Dick Contino at the American Music Awards, 1998, here. . . youtu.be/JId36QYs3yg?t=96Earth vs The Spider, instrumental by that hip High School combo lead by a 35-year-old teenage conductor (honestly, that's how old the actor was). On the soundtrack Albert Glasser is credited as the writer, so Albert could rock in addition to making bombastic military, marching music? The track's title is simply, "Band Rehearsal" you can see it here unriffed. . . www.youtube.com/watch?v=tINr-ML_CdUAnd finally... Hooray for Santa Claus, Milton Delugg and the Little Eskimos Written by Roy Alfred and Milton Delugg. There was a single, and there are covers, but I couldn't find any indication that it charted, nor any background on the recording of the track, or who made up the children's chorus, etc. Other stuff... They Tried to Kill Me With a Forklift (Fugitive Alien) comes from the score, but I like how the best brains made it a song. There's also some piano playing in The Unearthly, and flute in Teenage Caveman. So what was season three's song of the year? Hmmm, while I'm partial to Santy Claus (it's got a nice beat and you can dance to it), if you consider the MST factor it's gotta be The Gamera March, just for the many times it was done, including a classy version by Mike as Michael Feinstein. Close to that is Hear the Engine Roar with Rock Candy Baby in third.

Season 4 Soundtracks: Giant Gila Monster & Hercules UnchainedThe composer for the soundtrack in "The Giant Gila Monster" was Jack Marshall, who went on to do the music for the "Munsters". But the songs came from the twisted mind of Don Sullivan. Track Listings All songs composed and performed by Don Sullivan * The Mushroom Song (aka "Laugh, Children, Laugh") * My Baby, She Rocks (or, as the guys interpreted it, I sing whenever I sing whenever I sing....) * I Ain't Made That Way I Aint Made That Way was the B-side of a single released by Roscoe Records, The A-Side was one of Marshall's instrumentals, titled Gila Monster Crawl by The Sneaky Petes, The guy playing the Theremin on the tune was Paul Tanner, who will later be heard on The Beach Boys song, "Good Vibrations". Apparently, Gila Monster Crawl is a very rare, collectors item, you can hear it here... www.youtube.com/watch?v=xILOyJIYLm4Don was happy about his music (though, not with the mix on "I Ain't Made That Way"), in an interview I found he states " It's the one and only time that I ever sang songs, I never sang at another event, another film or anyplace else ever, so that was fun." Mmm, I hate to spoil the party, but, lets just say I wasn't real impressed with his songwriting, but, hey as long as Don was thrilled, good for him. And the Brains wring a lot of laughs (children) laughs out of them, so it's a win/win. Hercules Unchained
Track Listing* Evening Star - music by Enzo Masetti, lyrics by Mitchell Parish - sung by Sylva Koscina (dubbed by June Valli in the English version) I've also seen credited Con te per l'eternità (Titoli) - written by Enzo Masetti (as Tito Manzese), Carlo Savina and Dario Bernazza - sung by Sylva Koscina (dubbed by Marisa Del Frate in the Italian version), but what I could find for that was an instrumental version of Evening Star with some background "ahhhs" There was an official soundtrack album, pictured above. Enzo Masetti was a pioneering Italian composer, who retired after working on this movie, sadly he died 2 year later at the age of 67. Soundtrack info comes from IMDB, which indicates that it's Sylvia's voice on the Italian language version, you can here that song, with her voice, at Daily Motion... www.dailymotion.com/video/x1a0actAnd to compare, here's the English language version heard on MST...

Season 4 Soundtracks: Manhunt In Space* Starfield Ride (aka, Sleepy Little Fella), written and performed by Scotty Beckett It does sound like he saying Felon. Beckett was a member of Our Gang for about a year, playing Spanky's pal. After that, Alfalfa, played by Carl Switzer, soon took over the role of best friend and became one of the big names in the series. Beckett lost his job as Winky after he was arrested on a concealed weapons charge and for passing a bad check. He had a troubled life, run-ins with the law, etc, and died young (38), after a beating. Tormented* Tormented - music by Albert Glasser, lyrics by Lewis Meltzer, sung by Margie Rayburn In the movie, Tom tinkles away on a piano and plays the title song on a record player. Glasser did the score, and Calvin Jackson is credited for additional modern jazz sequences. According to the Library of Congress, the music was recorded from 23rd September to 6th October 1959 at McGregor's Studio. For information on singer Margie Rayburn, who was a one-hit wonder... twice! See... www.onehitwondersthebook.com/?page_id=2896 The BeatniksTrack Listing* Sideburns * With a Look * Anything Your Little Heart Desires (exact title unknown) * Love is a Thief Tunes for The Beatniks were written by songwriter Eddie Brandt and director Paul Frees, sung by Tony Travis, who has a pleasant, crooners voice... but is in no way shape or form, a beatnik. Info on Tony Travis... www.freshsoundrecords.com/14077-tony-travis-albums See the movie, hear the music unriffed... www.youtube.com/watch?v=ib1riAFr6G4While I wanted to feature songs without riffing, I have to say that these feel so empty without the quips. ♫ Dish of Ice Cream ♫ Monster A-Go Go Theme, by The Other Three... who are the Other Three, I have no clue, but they did all the original music for what might be the worst movie ever made. So that's a notch on the belt. Manos: The Hands of FateTrack Listing* Love Inside The Magic Circle, sung by Nicki Mathis * Forgetting You (Love Theme from Manos: The Hands of Fate), sung by Nicki Mathis * Baby Do a Thing With Me, singer unknown Songs and jazzy soundtrack were written by Robert Smith, Jr. & Russ Huddleston - I don't have information on them, where they came from, or what they are doing now. Nicki Mathis is a Texas-based singer, who's still around. Jackey posted a picture of her from a 1959 performance... Facebook postThe soundtrack has been released, a review of it... www.starburstmagazine.com/reviews/manos-the-hands-of-fateThe love theme from the end credits... EDIT - added info on Day The Earth Froze a few pages after this. Others?* There was an album release for the score to Time Walker (Being From Another Planet) * Attack of the Giant Leeches had music playing from a record player * In The Indestructible Man, "Frankie and Johnny" is played by an off-screen band in the burlesque house * The Rebel Set, background music for dancing and poetry * Caliban and Ariel (Women of the Prehistoric Planet) shows up again, on Human Duplicators, and there is some piano playing * Fire Maidens had music from and dances from Alexander Borodin's 1890 opera Prince Igor, pieces of which were incorporated into the 1953 musical Kismet, where the “Gliding Dance of the Maidens”, was adapted for the song ”Stranger in Paradise”. I was planning to take a breather, but for some reason Arch Hall Jr. and 007s brother called out to me and I've actually done some preliminary work on Season 5 - so I could be back tomorrow.

BTW, please feel free to chime in with your own thoughts, even a "hey dickweed, Don Sullivan's a great songwriter!" is okay. And I forgot to name a "song of the season". Mmm, as a personal favorite probably something from Travis on the Beatnik, though they are rather dry, too low-key for me, but not a bad voice (call it Sinatra-lite), the song he sang for the audience at the show was nice. But throwing in MST and what stuck out as iconic comedy moments, it comes down to the tunes from the Beatniks and Gila Monster. And I'd lean towards the Beatniks and the Sideburns song.

Season 5 Soundtracks:I found an article at Mental Floss that dug into some background stories on the music of MST, which included information on "Hear the Engines Roar/Burning Rubber Tires", that has been added to that write-up above, and will be used as a source for a couple of future posts. Onward, to my favorite season, which features a bunch of goodies. Warrior of the Lost WorldThe movie credits list... * Let Me in Your Life, By Mike Fraser, Douglas Meakin and Daniele Patucchi, Performed by Chrystina Myers (as Chrys Worth) * Remembering the Unknown Soldier, By Mike Fraser, Douglas Meakin and Daniele Patucchi, Performed by The Sistina Choir - described as a hymn in the film credits So we have a love ballad at the end of Warrior... youtu.be/qBvuwHVsoPM?t=4950But no info on who Chrystina Myers is. However, she's credited as Chrys Worth in the film credits, David Worth was the director, were they married? And is this songwriter Douglas Meakin? www.youtube.com/watch?v=xyjEcsMlP7o - he was born in Liverpool in 1945, married an Italian dancer, does a lot of Italian-disco music in the 70s, continues with several Italian bands thereafter. Could be. HerculesThere are a couple of sailor songs composed by Enzo Masetti Magic Voyage of SinbadIf you go by the original Russian version, the film is titled Sadko and the music comes from Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov's opera of the same name. You can see that film, and will hear that our heroes song sounds different from the English language version, here... www.youtube.com/watch?v=CuQUHYKo5VsIn the film credits for Magic Voyage, the songwriter is listed as John Smich and sung by Geno Marsili, but since director Aleksandr Ptushko is credited as Alfred Posco, it's anybody's guess if those are their real names. Eegah!Track Listing* Eegah Theme, written by Arch Hall Jr. and Alan O'Day * Nobody Lives on the Brownsville Road, written by Hall, performed by Arch Hall Jr. and the Archers * Valerie, (IMDB credits it to Hall Jr. & Lussier, but in an interview, Arch said he co-wrote it with his father - and that Valerie was the name of his aunt's daughter), performed by Arch Hall Jr. * Vickie, Written by Arch Hall Jr. and Deke Lussier, Performed by Arch Hall Jr. Most of these tunes are found on the compilation CD Wild Guitar (2005) - pictured top) which I happen to own and have signed by Jr (it sits next to my bots and my Gamera tin on my MST3K DVD shelf). Oddly, Valerie was not included on the CD... maybe the master was lost (I know they did a lot of work trying to hunt down the tunes), which would make Eegah the only place to hear it. In the CDs booklet, Jr. said he didn't recall the other Archers involved with the recording of Vickie or Valerie... there were promotional singles given away at showings, but neither received an official national release. And that was his voice on the Eegah theme, slowed waay down. Members of the Archers include Junior's long time pals Alan O'Day, who later had a hit with Undercover Angel (and wrote many a chart-topper for others), and Deke Lussier/Richards, who also appears in the film as a band member (pictured above). Deke was a part-time Archer since he was in other bands and had other projects. Both men died in 2013. AHjr talks about each of his band-mates in the CD insert.

Season 5 Soundtracks: I Accuse My ParentsTrack Listing - Music and Lyrics by Jay Livingston and Ray Evans - Performed by Mary Beth Hughes * Are You Happy In Your Work? * Love Came Between Us * Where Can You Be? IMDB also lists, Home Sweet Home (uncredited) Music by H.R. Bishop Songwriters Livingston & Evans There was a soundtrack album, but interestingly Martha Tilton is given credit for singing Are You Happy In Your Work on that LP, according to the Livingston and Evans website. Hughes is credited on the other songs, and the voices on soundtrack and movie sound identical... so was that a mistake, or maybe Tilton did record a single - she was popular at the time so maybe they felt her name could better sell it? Mary Beth did work as a nightclub singer, so I know she had the voice and didn't need to be dubbed by another. Regardless, the tunes here are genuinely wonderful, among the most enjoyable heard on an MST movie, not surprising since the songwriters were 3 time Oscar winners (7 time nominees). And Are You Happy In Your Work inspired a classic MST skit.

Season 5 Soundtracks: 007, Mitchell, and Brains that refuse to dieOperation Double 007Se chiami amore (Italian) / The Man For Me (aka, O.K. Connery, English) - Lyrics by Audrey Nohra, music by Bruno Nicolai & Ennio Morricone, sung by Maria Cristina Brancucci Maria Cristina Brancucci aka Christy is also known for singing the themes to other Italian genre films such as "Deep Down" (in "Danger: Diabolik"), and "Run Man Run" (in "The Big Gundown"). Lyrically the English version is way over the top and the pronunciation is quite humorous, "He keels me" What the... HU? And then there's "He tarms me, he sharms me" (the latter might supposed to have been "charms me", but God know what "tarms" is) Of the two, I prefer the Italian version.
