the wording for this is all very vague. what do they mean by screen? what do they mean by direct from the gizmoplex? is this just a live watch-a-long? will joel et all even be there? have to wait for more actual details.

It's an in person thing, I don't think it will be live screened via the Gizmoplex.

Joel will be there, it's basically in his backyard (meaning he lives within a reasonably short driving distance). I'm guessing it's just a screening of three S13 episodes (one from each host) with maybe introductory remarks and a Q&A. Nothing new.

There's supposed to be a Kickstarter update with info on Tickets to this tomorrow.

I'm going to try for tickets tonight. I was going there on Saturday anyway. They've got a good selection this year, with "The Blob", "The Wolf Man", "Bride of Frankenstein", and "Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein". Last year, I actually found a Partridge Family paperback at the street fair.

I got my tickets for the movies tomorrow, and the MST shows on Sunday. But I've just had a disturbing thought. With the WGA/SAG/AFTRA strike now in progress, does that mean Joel, Jonah & Emily can't show up on Sunday? Does that mean MJ or the Mads can't do their shows? I've heard it speculated that Svengoolie will have to go into repeats because of this.
Does anyone have the info on this?

So how was it?

I wasn't able to get out there on Sunday, due to circumstances beyond my control. I've heard via Facebook that it went well. Joel, Jonah & Emily were all there. Reportedly, Joel said that they were working on selecting the movies for Season 14 and prepping for the next Kickstarter campaign.
As for the strike, it doesn't really affect MST3K right now, due to it being on hiatus. But both Rifftrax and Dumb Industries have announced that, while they're sympathetic with the strikers, they're going to continue with production. Both are independent companies (in RT's case, an artist-owned company), both are fan-supported, and both are not connected with the AMPTP. So, it looks like all three are OK, so far as I know.

Hahaha. No. No, no, no.
What's the incentive? The last one was to "BUILD THE GIZMOPLEX" which was sold as a way to make money to AVOID future Kickstarters. I seem to recall the term "self-sufficient" thrown out there last time.
The G-Plex got built. I'm assuming it'll continue to exist and host the Season 14 episodes. I'm perfectly fine not giving Joel a dime and waiting to see if the new season is worth any of my time and money. Because they built a quick and easy way to rent a single episode at a time. So why should I pay for a whole season ahead of time? I did that the last time and didn't even finish.
Also, one would think they'd try and fundraise THRU the G-Plex and cut out the Kickstarter middle man. You get a bigger pot of money directly to you, and you don't have to worry about all the damn freebies that have plagued the first 2 K-Starters. They STILL haven't delivered the physical gifts from last time!

First Kickstarter had 48,000 backers.
Second Kickstarter had 36,000, half of whom didn't back the first one.
Third one? 30,000 if they're lucky? I don't know.
Where are the new supporters going to come from this time? From catching the show on the FAST streaming services like Pluto? People trickling in from Netflix? Also a lot of money was raised last time from those classic episode digital packages - you can't sell those twice to the same backers, although I suspect the hook this time will be "surgically enhanced" versions, since Joel dropped in an interview he did last week with a local radio station that the project to upgrade the classic episodes is ongoing. (https://xpn.org/2023/07/14/irhp-joel-hodgson-blobfest/) Are there enough people who both liked Season 13 enough and are OK with how they run Kickstarter fulfillment ("The real reward was having a new season and the Gizmoplex, you backed for that, not for any physical rewards, you entitled haters!"), hardcore fans willing to pony up several hundreds or thousands of dollars next time around? I was mistaken last KS, but I didn't understand just how many people love whatever product Joel and company throws at them because he's Joel and they're loyal enough to think anything he does is good by default. He'll raise enough to pump out another season or so, promises about a self-sustaining Gizmoplex future forgotten like tears in the rain, but I shudder to think how much lower in quality it could possibly be.

Also, one would think they'd try and fundraise THRU the G-Plex and cut out the Kickstarter middle man. I agree, but then you also have that lower exposure. Who's to say what the master huckster will do.

Ignoring the fact the second made more money, but why let facts get in the way. Well, why isnt anybody asking why are they are going back to a platform that eats up a third of their funds when they have their own now? Unless, "reportedly" means someone inserted the word Kickstarter during this game of telephone. we heard it from joel personally that there would be some kind of drive for Season 14, so id like to hear any further details officially as well.
