Okay, so I wanted to name the thread
Waiting for the Season 14 Campaign to end even though it doesn't matter, countdown to nothing, man we must be bored
But apparently the post names can only be so long.
"Serious" discussion in the other thread, waiting for the campaign to end in this thread.

I'll start.
I actually watched a couple MST3Ks just this week with the family.
Blood Beast Turkey Day is not just a classic, it's a great episode. I laugh all the way through it. And genuinely enjoy the movie too.

I actually didn't watch any this week.
Well, no. Technically that's not true. I edited about 8 episodes in the week leading up to Thanksgiving to upload onto Youtube, so I sort of passively watched them as I edited.
You have no idea how much I hate Kitten With a Whip...

So that's crazy how much you put into those broadcast editions. Very cool.
I have mixed thoughts about kitten with a whip. It's a very interesting movie, and a little on the serious dark side. It doesn't really fit MST3K. I think I've only watched it through once.

Its unpleasant and un-fun and John Forsythe is a simpering idiot who's worst sin was being helpful albeit naïve. And Ann-Margret is crazy.

We also watched the first Gamera last night because my son is totally into all kaiju. That one is both great and boring at the same time. It's a little long and some parts drag, but the whole Tibby, Kenny thing is just so great. Also, the parts where they start playing Kenny like a possessed demon child. Possibly one of Trace's first riffs as Gregory Peck, doing The Omen references.

The first Gamera episode is a drag. I get the sense the writing team didn't know quite what to do with it. The same with 305-Stranded In Space. It wasn't until Paul became a full-time writer (306 or 307) that the writing team got fleshed out enough that even the "boring" and more difficult movies (The Unearthly, Fu Manchu) while maybe not being worth a re-visit, at least weren't a drag to watch for the first time.

Anyone watch any other riffers this year? I like the Mads okay. At first I thought they were great, and I still really like their low def vibe, but Frank is so political. Trace is still on it. Sometimes looking back, I think he was the star of classic MST3K

I just don't have the energy to keep up with the side-projects. The most I ever see is if Rifftrax puts something up on Youtube. Those Mary Jo and Bridget shorts are great.

I liked MJ and Bridget a lot, but after awhile I felt like they started to get some writing help too and the jokes weren't theres. Still like them though.

I do know that I don't particularly like whoever writes most of Rifftrax's more recent stuff. I assume their younger writers like Conor Lastowka. Him and 2 other guys got to do a riff on a short during the MST-Rifftrax reunion show, I used it as an opportunity to use the bathroom.

Yeah, they had like one published riff, something about the 90s internet. They were not good.
I really drifted from RiffTrax.

I would definitely recommend The Mads. They're not perfect, but they're probably the closest to old MST3K there is right now.

I'm watching The Incredible Petrified World riffed by The Mads right now. Not bad. Frank is too damn obviously liberal, but his riffing is still fun, and Trace is always good, and the movie is great good old fun sci fi.

I'll have to do a bit of research and spool one up some day.
