It's been promoted as forthcoming as far back as the Rifftrax Live of the movie (as I understand it, the licensing fee Giancola got paid for that was what enabled him to pay for an HD transfer), but the recently revamped Edgewood Studios web site indicates that TIME CHASERS in high definition will at last be available to B-movie aficionados and GenCorp shareholders next month.

And it's still coming to Blu-Ray before both True Lies and The Abyss!

I made that same joke a few weeks ago when WB announced a Joe's Apartment Blu-Ray release for the end of next month.

And from what I'm hearing, True Lies (if not both) has a botched transfer because they used an AI noise reduction algorithm on the original camera negatives. So there's actually a reasonable chance that Time Chasers will have a more competent visual presentation.

Plus, they also used shitty AI to upscale the previous Aliens Blu-Ray to a smeary over-processed "4K" presentation. Cameron is just incompetent at this point.

Could even get another one But, for real, come on! True Lies was a good movie. Did some licensing BS get involved or what happened there?

No, it was contractual. James Cameron had to personally approve all remasters, and he was entirely too busy making Avatar sequels, giving Robert Rodriguez 600 pages of notes on how to make Alita, and producing Terminator Dark Fate to get around to it until now.
He made some great movies back in the day, but he's very much off the deep end nowadays, isn't he? In fairness, I haven't seen either Avatar yet, so maybe the old Jim is still in there somewhere. But between what he did to Terminator and visually tarnishing his older movies, I'm skeptical.
In his defense: he made the highest grossing film of all time, twice. There's no way any human can walk away from that unchanged.

"Off the deepend" doesn't even begin. Cameron LITERALLY put his seal of approval on Terminator: Dark Fate. There is being complacent from success, and there are just downright delusions!

I thought Dark Fate was just fine. It definitely had that modern girl-power feel to it, but then, this is in the Terminator universe where girl-power has always been a major theme. I would say that Cameron pulls off strong woman better than most anyone. This new one was not by him, but I can see how he green-lit it. I thought the action was mostly well done too.

I'd be inclined to see things like that, but I find it hard to look past the fact that it was literally the same plot right down to the fact that they said, "She's John". It was not a "girl-power" vibe, it was an excess of "girl-pandering" to the point where they tried to PREDICT that we thought she was going to GIVE BIRTH to the savior. I mean, who in their right mind would have thought that with this whole trend going on around us? There are many things I can forgive, but blatant insults to my intelligence by hack writers and a director that did one good movie? Not so much. At the very least, True Lies knew what it was and it celebrated that. It was a big dumb action movie because we want a big dumb action movie with terrorists and missiles and jets and they said "Oh we can just do all that and celebrate!" It was just a lot of fun and Arnold was his own weirdly charming self. And, hark, what is this? Jamie Lee Curtiss has an arch and finds her own way of being a badass while also being likeable and having the training to back it up over time? Why, yes! Storytelling and characters abound! I really don't mean to be condescending but this is how I feel movie studios have been drooling out mindless drivel when we already have The Terminator and Terminator 2. The real problem is, we have so many other avenues to go for our entertainment now. Reruns, physical media, fan-made media and even STREAMING services has basically rendered movie studios moot if they don't bring us anymore actual A or B class material rather than this SLOP they call cinemas made from rehashed, tired material and preachy BS. The sooner they accept that, the sooner they MIGHT stop sinking into a huge quagmire like yourself and me. RIP Mr. Huge Quadmire

Oh wow, here I am thinking I returned it to the title True Lies.
Time Chasers, I still think it's funny that they hated the show at first but then all the sudden. "Oh, you can get us a revival? WELCOME MST3K! We've always loved you!... remember?"
