Van Halens official site www.van-halen.com has opened a tour dates section here. The tentative opening date is July 17 in San Diego, I hear. Also it's going to be the Red Rocker, not DLR.

Man, I hope they do a show in Chicago. Then I can actually go see a good band in person!

That's cool. I'd still rather go see them with DLR. That would just be too classic. I've seen them before as Van Hagar and, well, it just wasn't that great.
But, that's just me,

Well at least it isn't Gary Cherone "Shudder" Why did you even have to bring that up? Now I'm gonna have nightmares again for weeks! Thanks VanHagar, Servo

Maybe this should go in the "unpopular musical opinions" thread, but I don't think the Cherone era was all Gary's fault. He is a very good singer, and a more thoughtful lyricist than DLR. But that album featured terribly boring songwriting from Eddie and probably the worst production of any album in years. The guitars and drums just sounded like crap.

Yeah, he wasn't a bad singer, that album was just horrible. There were no really good songs on it and the Van Halen brothers were pretty much assing around the whole time. Servo

And I remember Eddie quoted as saying how he and Cherone were not just on the same page, but the same paragragh. So what happened?

Eddie did what he always does.
He blamed the singer.
The album tanked, must have been Cherone's fault.#nosmileys

For me the bottom line is: Red Rocker? DLR? BFD.
