I really liked Roy Woods Wizard! Really hated ELO though. Hate is such a strong word. Intensly disliked their music is a more polite way to put it. They were really ugly too and I'm sure they smelled very bad. Likely they did way too many drugs and plagarized most of their music. Of course, that could be any band from that era. Maybe this one too.

I used to like them, but I don't anymore. It's been a long time since I liked them. In 1981 I saw them live on their Time tour in Fort Worth, Texas. It was a great show then, I thought.
They really stopped the show with "Hold on Tight (To Your Dreams)"

They really stopped the show with "Hold on Tight (To Your Dreams)" I'm befuddled as to how someone can like something that much and now just not like it. I mean, if you liked them that much back then, what has drastically changed your opinion of them? Just curious, Servo

Maybe quamp just came to his senses. But I kid. Bah! I should've known that I set myself up for some sarcastic remark. The leader of the anti-prog rock movement has pulled one over on me once more. Servo

I had an ELP phase in the 70's. Is that close enough?

I had an ELP phase in the 70's. Is that close enough? Yeah, I'll accept it. Still, they're not as good (in my book) as ELO or Yes. Of course, neither of them can stand up against Boston, Uh-oh, I feel hate coming on! Servo

I know you like Boston. Many people do. Many many many mainstream common people. Hell, without the common mainstream people how could I feel superior?

I should've seen this one coming. Many people like Boston, yes. You know why? Because they're good!!! I bet you don't like Ted Nugent either. Servo

Not musically or politically. And if Boston were so good why couldn't they come up with more than one album anybody cared about? What about "Don't Look Back", "Third Stage", and "Walk On"? Those were all excellent albums that weren't the self-titled album. Just because it was popular doesn't mean that you have to hate it. Some could say the same things about Dylan. But, I'm just doing this to get a rise out of you, it's fun. What would this board do without me and you disagreeing on something every now and then? Well, probably go on peaceably, but, I digress..... Servo

Well, I'm listening to The Idle Race's (Jeff Lyne's 60's group) "Days of the Broken Arrows" (on the Rhino released Nuggets II box set) and well, it's a great song...a pop masterpiece...and it's amazing how much it sounds like ELO. I think some of the ELO's songs are pretty good and bring back some nostalgic twangs and tangs but I was never a big fan. I do agree that Lynne as a producer can ruin stuff simply because he makes everything sound like Jeff Lynne and that sound is so particular to him and doesn't sound right anywhere else. Just listen to The Idle Race's "Imposters of Lifes Magazine." Everything he's ever done is in that song...and he recorde it in 67.

I recently saw a ELO video/performance on VH1 Classic. It was "Don't Bring Me Down." To me, it was okay. I have heard worst. What was he saying? "Don't Bring me down. . . Bruce"?

I'm gonna let Nightfalcawk correct your grammar, but, in regards to your ELO question, yes, he is saying, "Don't Bring Me Down...Bruce". Why? How the hell should I know, ask Jeff Lynne. Servo

Did U Know that Dylan inspired John Lennon to become more interspective in his music, he did it by introducing him to Mary Jane.
