Darell Hammond is it. Maybe that guy Keenan has some potential but he Not ready to be a not ready for primetime player. I have a feeling after Hammond leaves, Lorne fires most everyone and does a reboot like was done in 1980 and 1985. I can see him doing it even with Hammond, but just retaining him.
flapjacks TINA FEY. I don't care how good she is on Weekend Update, she's the head writer, all of this poopie should be placed or her head. She needs to know what jokes are lame and motivate the writers to do better. I know it a cliche on MST3K board but almost ANY writer that was on MST3K could do a better job than Fey, especially Mike. But I can see Trace, Joel, Kevin, Paul, Mary, Josh, Jim, Bridget, Bill, and Frank. All of them from what I've seen are very funny people in one way or another.

I like Darrell Hammond's impressions, but they are not enough to carry the show. I don't think SNL has recovered yet from losing Will Farrell and Ana Gasteyer. I really enjoyed their work, especially Gasteyer's.
This current crew is just lame. You can tell Jimmy Fallon's just marking time until he gets a movie deal. I liked him in the beginning, but he is beginning to irritate me. Could somebody please teach him how to keep his composure on live TV? Every week there's at least one sketch where he loses it entirely and starts giggling. He's done enough shows by now, he ought to have at least some semblance of professionalism. And don't get me started on Tina Fey. My hand just itches to slap that smirky face, probably because she reminds me of this incredibly vicious girl who made life difficult for me in high school.

I haven't watched SNL for years, and this thread just confirms what I thought. SNL is becoming old, stupid, and unfunny. I loved "It's Pat", and "Jack Handey's Deep Thoughts" and those goofy commercials. I remember laughing my ass off at Jim Carrey as one of those three "night at the roxbury" goofs. I loved that one skit where the two artsy-fartsy trendy guys were commenting on peoples clothes, and that boss drives in on a golf cart and pulls out the super-tiny phone. Those were funny.

I think the Weekend Update part is best part of the show, for it is the only part when I laugh. But yes, because of you people drilling the fact that Saturday Night Live isn't good anymore into my head, I don't watch it so often. Notice how they always look at the camera, even when talking to another person right next to them?

I think the problem is that they hired on a bunch of new writers to give it the "fresh feeling" and keep it real after their success around the waynes world era, but for some reason they aren't firing them. Probably has something to do with the illuminati.
If not the illuminati then it is the beer companies. Would you rather stay home and watch SNL or go out and get wasted? I'd rather get stuck DDing at a bar then sit at home and watch that crap.
And whats up with MAD TV? Comedy central seems they cant get enough of it. Its driving me insane. Like when they couldn't stop playing absolutely fabulous (sp?). Its like they took a complete 180, instead of pretentous crap lets blast raunchy frat guy comedy.
"Show'm my mot-to!" How much can one race be exploited?
TV is just trying the appeal to the broad audenice more and more now adays.

One thing about SNL today that really gets me is that there IS SO MUCH MATERIAL OUT THERE RIGHT NOW AND THEY ARE IGNORING IT. Why? Let's ignore the major political and social shifts of time to write sketches that revolve around spoofs of other television shows (not something you should do when YOUR television show ain't in high regard) or endless Donatella Versace spoofs by Maya Rudolf? Why? Donatella is completely off the radar...and The President of the United States of America looks like a very simian Alfred E. Neuman! Think!
Someone mentioned Jimmy Fallon cracking up and...you know what's worse (and this always bothered me), 95% the cast members READ their lines off the cue cards...even if they have like 2 lines they're reading them off prompters...and aren't even subtle about it. What exactly do these people do all week that gets in the way of learning their lines? They don't even write their own material (the have geniuses for that *snicker*)..."Hi, I'm Horatio Sanz. I'm the madatory fat guy of the cast but I am no Belushi, nor even a Farley...nope, I have no style whatsoever, I'm just fat. So I get few parts (maybe a little more that the token blacks)...but even then I'm going to read every single line and kill the pace and the point. But, I'm fat and that's kinda funny I guess."
They should give the show over to The Best Brains Crew...all much superior writers.
Tina Fey and Jimmy Fallon are both highly slappable.
