If you don't like something fine, but at least know what your talkin about.

My CD received a bad review from I think it was CD Universe. And like I told my Wife, I can handle the bad review. Not everyone is going to like the same thing. But the reviewer had no clue on what I was trying to do on a song. He obviously didn't even read the press-kit he was sent and that bugged me.

Hate it, fine But at least do me the courtesy of reviewing what I recorded.

I would have much prefered a review that said "I know what he was attempting, the mood of the music and lyric. But for me it didn't work and here's why". I can at least respect an "informed" opinion like that.

That review for ROTK has to be a hoax. No one who knew as much as the reviewer did could be so clueless about the movie, if that makes any sense. I’ve seen some other crazy ass reviews like that at Amazon. Its just people trolling the reviews, (if you can believe that crap!) trying to piss people off and get a response. /ignore.

And MightyJack, negative reviews of your art must hurt like hell. I’ve always heard its best to ignore the negative stuff and keep on plugging along, but I sing like Bob Dylan minus the profound lyrics, so what the hell do I know.

Reviewers can be good and bad. What you have to do is learn to ignore ALL of them. That way, you don't get too high or low on yourself. You're in it for the art, screw what everyone else thinks. Don't be pompous, take criticism, if it's actually constructive, but, I'm sure you'll find out, that most people will try to put themselves above you. Like they're not your audience, but rather your judge, jury, and executioner. Real fans will praise and criticize you.

At least that's been my experience, playing in and managing bands.

I've got a pretty thick skin after all these years. But I have admit that the sting is there. I created this, it would be like someone coming up and telling you that your baby is ugly.

But more than that, a lack of understanding is bothersome to me more than anything and I don't know why.

Maybe it's because I work so hard and everything has a purpose and a reason, and to have it dismissed like it was fluff? Gets under my skin when I know it shouldn't.

Really you'd think no one could be THAT idiotic, but they are out there. Perhaps this is off topic but it shows how stupid people can be: True story I was explaining to a not-so-bright friend what was going on in Iraq,

Well, this review was useful to me in pointing out how much Star Wars rips off LOTR!

I do agree with him somewhat on the dialogue, though. Not really crackling and original, it just served its purpose. I liked the movie, but it had some flaws. Too much slo-mo, and an incredibly anti-climactic ending. I still think the first one is the best.

I don't think the review is real. Just another troll stirring people up, and I've had quite enough of those!

you mean like at the end when Frodo wakes up and he's all GAAAANNNNDOOOOOLLLLFFFFF!. yeah I don't know about in english but in spanish he sounded incredably stupid. I enjoyed it, but your right, they used WAY to much slowmo in it.

yeah like, in Tarzan... actaully I hate it even more when the use any slowmo in cartoons. But i enjoyed it anyways, cause my friend and I pretended to cry and this guy turned around an looked at us all funny, so we cried even harder.... the best slowmo is the kind that doesn't stick out in your mind.

Review for Return of the King

First off, this movie made no sense. They don't bother to introduce anyone or tell us what is going on. Maybe this would have made more sense if I had seen the first two movies. But come on. You can't use that as an excuse, movies should stand ALONE ON THEIR OWN MERITS, and on its own, this movie doesn't make any sense and nothing is explained. I mean, who is going to take the time to watch all three of these movies? That's like 11 hours!

I seem to be the only one to notice this, but this movie is a total rip-off of Star Wars. I mean, come on, really. It makes the movie almost embarrassing to watch. The Ring is just like The Force. Sauron is the Emperor, and Saruman (good guy gone bad) is Darth Vader. Brash, "Rowsdower"y Aragon was modelled on Han Solo, and Frodo is Luke Skywalker. They replaced the lightsabers with real swords, big deal. And that Gollum guy is an Ewok if I ever saw one. Think about it, he leads the Hobbitts around like the Ewok leads Leia around. Coincidence? *Snort of derision* Yeah right. Mount Doom is the Death Star. The Orcs are like the Stormtroopers. And in the biggest chutzpah rip-off of all, Gandalf is clearly based on the popular character Yoda. I mean really. Did these people think they were going to get away with it? I could go on and on with the evidence, but I think what I've presenting is conclusive enough. So for originality this movie gets a big zero. Even the locations remind me of Star Wars.

Thirdly, the casting is inept. Elijah Wood, the kid from the Macaulay Culkin movie "The Good Son" as Frodo? Har har. Mikey from the Goonies as Sam? Viggo Mortensen from GI Jane fame as the dashing warrior? I mean, whoa, the casting crew must have been on acid or something.

Fourth, the much-talked about special effects. It's difficult for me to watch a movie with such special effects. In all the sweeping shots of castles and fortresses, you can see how badly pixelated everything is - I mean come on. I was making better CG models on my Amiga and Apple II in the 1980s then this stuff, and it's more than 20 years later? Haven't we learned anything in this time? Apparently not. And that guy dressed up in the Gollum suit... wow, just wow. During one shot I saw the zipper on it, and I buried my face in my hands and almost wept.

Fifth, the dialogue is about as cheesy as you can get. "We must fight, to save the world!" Uh, okay there Thor. *Insert golf clap here* There are also many cliches taken from the Dragonlance book series here. It's shameful, simply shameful.

So, all in all, I must give this movie 1 star out of 5 possible.

Wha? First off this guy needs take himself off TV for a few weeks and read the trilogy or get the graphic novel or something, assuming he can read. Where has this guy been? Living in the Sewers on the Upper East Side sucking down butane? Even total stoners know about Tokien. I find the reference to a link between Tolkien and Star Wars facinating in a what if Gollum and Yoda met up sort of thing......hmm......well back to the point. Comparing the two movies is a little beyond a stretch. True they have CGI effects, the battle against an all consuming evil and a fantasy background in common, but I am really, really sure Director Jackson didn't watch Star Wars and go, "Gee, I remember reading Tolkien in high school and I could combine it with Star Wars." Huh?
If this dudderhead would just rent the Two Towers (extended version) He can SEE FOR HIS SORRY SELF how they did gollum leaving very little to the imagination. This is without a doubt the stupidest, uniformed movie review I have ever read. If this got published in a for real publication I am sure he is a total laughing stock and is probably looking for another job right now.

Hah what an idiot. I saw someone similar on another message board who hated the LOTR films and when people suggested that he should read the books he said he didn't know that LOTR was a book series . Of course this guy also claimed he liked movies like Glitter and Freddy Got Fingered so it's save to assume he was a stupid joke account.

And if the dialouge sounded campy, how else are you going to word a sword a sorcery epic or fantasy movies in general? You can't use modern english or make it sound "modern" anyway.

I don't see how he could talk about crapy dialouge, i mean really, I mean come ON! like he talks really smart. I mean REALLY... oh that bugged! I MEAN it REALLY BUGGED THE BEJEEBBERS OUT OF ME!! Oh I mean comeon it bugged me so much I said bejeebers!
