I'm not trying to diss 'MST3K: The Movie' it's what made me into a fan but if you had a choice of another movie to be on 'MST3K: The Movie' what would it be?
One movie that I haven't seen but seems great for MST3K treatment is a Universal release 'Xanadu'. It's campy, it's cheesey, it's seems perfect. I haven't seen the movie but I have a couple of riffs for it anyway:
Mike- "You know I heard this was suppose to launch Olivia Newton-John's career after Grease" Servo- "So essentially it's Grease 2: Electric Xanadu"
When we find out Olivia Newton-John is a muse Servo- "Really when has Olivia Newton-John ever inspired anyone" Crow- "She inspired me to stop watching Olivia Newton-John movies"

I think the movie is just fine. It was just way too short.

Titanic
When they had their Oscar special, they screened a small clip of this, and pretty much every riff was dead-on and hilarious. The Brains even said that if they had a go at one more movie, it would have been Titanic. It would have been perfect in my opinion.

Actually, Starship Troopers would've been good too.

How about "Forbidden Planet"? I mean, it's a classic sci-fi movie, it has some campy charm, and it's got Robby The Robot! What more does MST3K need?

Actually, Starship Troopers would've been good too. You're kidding right? Starship Troopers was great becuase it was a satire on those sappy romance-war movies of yore. A lot of people must've missed that on initial viewing.

Hey, I love Forbidden Planet. That's one of the only sci-fi movies that I'll actually ever stay up late to watch instead of just recording. And the story was great (Shakespeare helped a bit, so I hear....).
But I love This Island Earth as well, so I'm basically trading in a good movie for a good movie. Like has been said many times on this board, even 2001 has good spots for riffing.
And as for Starship Troopers, people always tell me that it was satire, but if it was then they certainly weren't doing it heavily enough. They succesfully made it campy enough to make the movie be of the same calibre as legitimately campy movies, but not enough camp to make people realize that it was a comedy. Although, to do that you need Mars Attacks! levels of camp, and some people didn't even get it then, so maybe it's a lost cause anyway.

There are no movies that should have escaped MST'ing. My choices would be Titanic, Can't Stop the Music with Bruce Jenner and the Village People, and From Kelley to Justin (or is it vice-versa? I can't remember).
As I said, no movies are above the guys, but I keep coming up with unwelcome riffs in my head for LOTR trilogy movies! When the head Uruk Hai orc comes through the fight towards Boromir at the end of the first one, I keep thinking the riff "No, my name's not Baby, it's Janet - Miss Jackson if you're nasty!" His strut and hairdo completely remind me of Janet Jackson in the Nasty Girls video. There are others, but I can't think of them at the moment, but my head riffs these three movies uncontrollably. One more that just hit me - when Saruman and Gandalf are fighting "Lynard Skynard members come to creative differences"...

I would LOVe to see GREAT movies riffed. I think the better the film, the better the potential for riffing.
Imagine the fun to be had with Star Wars, or The Godfather or Gone With the Wind, etc etc....

I think that in an interview with Bill Corbett, he said that Crow spends his spare time by going to watch good movies so that he can shout compliments at them.
Just the mental image of that made me laugh for a while.

One of the things I noticed about This Island Earth being in the Movie was that it was distributed by Universal, possibly so the rights wouldn't expire.
I feel if they were going to do any Universal movie, they should have done Jaws: the Revenge. That movie was so ripe for the picking, I'm surpised it never made its way to the show.
