I took it apart to give it a cleaning and well some things fell out, came out of place and now Im not sure how to connect a couple of the wires back together. heh heh... oh well. Does anyone know where I can get on-line help like a tutorial that wont cost me money? I found a few, but they are either too vague, or cost money.
Can anyone help me out?
Basically it is a white wire for the disc opening and reset buttons. Im not sure where it should connect back into the system. Its a later model PS2.

Well I had the same thing happen. I did manage to get it connected again, but the PS2 was already damaged beyond repair so I'm not using that one anymore. There's this thin opening under the CD drive you have to put the end of the white wire back into which you ripped it out of(and all of it put in equally, since if only one piece of the end of the wire is back in correclty, then only the reset will work or only power, etc.).
It's basically as thin and the same length as the end of the white wire you ripped out. Try to look for it on the right side of the open PS2, and under the drive (did I mention it's under the drive)? It's hard to explain otherwise. That's all I can describe.

You see, this is why they void the warranty if you open the thing up. Whenever, if you do, get this thing put back together, do like I do. Use compressed air cans to clean it. That way, you get all the dust and don't have to take it apart. As for the lens, get a lens cleaner disc.
Believe me, spending this little bit for cleaning and not having to take it apart will save you a LOT of money in the long run. You're probably going to have to take it somewhere and get it fixed.

I happened to have worked for Sony Playstation technical support. If you've opened up your PS2, they won't fix it. Reason: 95% of people open up a PS2 to put in an illegal mod chip in. Sony is extremely protective of their stuff; chances are if you do find an online manual on how to repair it, it won't cover what you're looking for, or will be inaccurate. Sony has only one authorized repair center in the USA, that being in Foster City, California. They don't permit anyone else to work on playstations. My advice to you is to chunk it and go out and buy a used one. That's about the best you can do.

Also, I used regular scotch tape to make it stable, but didn't tape it directly onto where it was ripped out of. I got the wire correctly back into the part it was ripped from, but taped the wire at a point a centimeter further away (to the right edge of the bottom of the drive) and placed the rest of it upwards from there to the position it was when I first opened the lid.

See, CJack? Never say die.
My dog chewed my Xbox controller straight from the base of the wire where it connects to the contoller. I, not knowing anything about that bs, took it apart and taped back the 8 or so colored wires and it worked.
I am cool now.

I think every dog has to at least chew one game system controller in their lifetime.
