I've just started re-watching season three and am a bit reticent about all those Gamera's in a short stretch of time. That's a heapin' helpin' of rubber turtle suit. So I'm curious, what's your favorite Gamera, can you take a lot of Gamera at once, do you dare say Gamera's name three times in the dark? And who's had turtle soup?

Pretty much any of the Sandy Frank productions produce a reluctant groan out of me, but I actually do enjoy the Gamera series. Mike Nelson as Gamera is quite funny and the questionable billing of Gamera in Gamera vs. Barugon (he shows up in the last 10 minutes pretty much) is interesting. I do have to say that Gamera vs. Guiron is the purest form of cheese that I have come across in quite a while.

I've only seen the original Gamera from Season 3, so I can't really comment on the others. But yeah, Gamera's a bit heavy on the cheesiness for my taste.

Oh holy crap Afgncaap5, you've only seen the first Gamera? At the rate you post I thought you were an MST expert and had seen them all. My bubble is burst. I don't know if... I'm sorry, I'm loosing my composure. I still view you in the highest regard but your off the pedestal. Deal with it.

Well I have pretty much every line of every single episode from seasons 1-5 memorized, and I LOVE the Sandy Frank films. I can just eat 'em up. Keep in mind, however, that I'm usually doing something else as I watch - surfing the net, etc. But I've seen every Season 3 episode about, gee, 30 times (that's probably accurate, actually), and Gamera and Gamera Vs. Guiron are true classics. Gamera Vs. Barugon is the only one I really don't care for - not enough dumb rubber suit action, and it's actually a really bleak film. Besides, Gamera spent most of his time behind the camera for that film. (As revealed in his shocking, salacious Hollywood memoir, You'll Never Eat This Town For Lunch Again!)
I'm one of the only people in the world who really digs Star Force: Fugitive Alien II, though. Crow makes the episode for me with all the Rocky & Bullwinkle jokes and his classic cry "WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?" The musical medley also remains one of their finest-ever host segment moments. You can tell how much all of the cast members really enjoyed writing that sketch up - at the end, Joel is having so much fun he flubs his lead-in!
Mighty Jack still sucks, though. Man does the stench of bitter failure still rise from that episode.

hmmm, that's good to know others feel the same about Barugon-I'd been putting off re-watching the Gamera series since I saw Barugon over the summer-I must admit it was pretty disappointing-though that view could change on re-viewing that ep. Looking forward to re-screening the whole Season 3, which was just given to me as a gift over the holidays- VHS, and it looks just fine- ooop, sorry i know nobody cares guess i just rambled-

Sorry, phantomengineer. I'm a sham, I know.
But I will say that I think I've traded for more Season 3 eps than any other. That I don't have all the Gamera ones yet is pure coincidence, if you ask me.

Gamera vs. Giuron, I think that's the best one. Giuron, what a stupid monster.

302 Gamera is the best in my opinion. Each of the movies/episodes are unique in their own way. It seems like it would be too much Gamera in too short a period of season three. But it does not turn out that way. The Brains were way too creative to let that happen.

IMO, John Agar is the best monster in a monster film.
