How do you think the show would have turned out? Cancelled after one season or still airing today. HBO seemed to like the more intellegent shows and MST3K fit into that category. Also Joel was a veteran of the HBO comedy specials. Do you think they would have continued airing the show, would the show gotten better recognition like Sex in the City and The Larry Sanders Show? Would they have done more sleazy explotation films because of looser network restrictions.
I think the show would have lasted a couple years longer with HBO. I don't know if it would still be on today it seemed by about the tenth season they were ready to leave anyway so they probably would have left at that time anyway.

It should have stayed on Comedy Central. SCIFI never really liked the show. Mike did not like the execs at SCIFI

It would have been cool if it has on HBO, 'cause then there would be more curse words, and watching formally clean people say "f**k" or "s**t" is always mildly strange and exciting.

That would have gotten me to pay for HBO.

True. Also Msties were getting under CC skin.Alot of complaints about repeats (sound familliar?) also the announcer for CC was always blabbing his mouth during the end credits.

As I recall there are quite alot of barbed riffs aimed at Comedy Central during their CC years - that can't have gone over well.

I don't think I agree. I mean, I am a SOPRANOS addict (I confess- it is my vice. It is actually a very well written show.) But MST is great without cursing. In MST-THE MOVIE, Servo says "poopie" and it seemed out of place.

Speaking of a show making fun of it's own channel, I will always remember the Simpsons episode where Homer invests in some stock and calls some hotline that says how well it's doing.
'Please state the name of your stock."
"Animal(whatever it was)'
'Up eleven point 2 points.'
Homer: (excitedly) "Yahoo!"
'Yahoo. Up one hundred and eight points.'
"Aww, what is this crap?"
'FOX Television. down five hundred and thirty seven points.'
