Just to clarify a couple things...Yeah, Joel didn't have me on the floor, but I it was kinda neat to see...a few lines grabbed me but no 'fall off the couch' laughs. Eddie Murphy was still in his prime...yes, his association with the show was waning at that point, but he still hadn't become the utter lame-o he is today.
uh...I'm referring to HIM, not that horrid video store sketch he was in...that was sheer torture...

I taped it and pretty much fast-forwarded through most of the episode. Besides Joel's bit, I liked The Rumik's Grenade commerical and the Prison Authors mockumentary. I thought his act was pretty good, but he seemed really...tired during his act. The end with the Rock-em Sock-em robots made me smile, though. ;D

I just saw it. Damn, it was great seeing Mike back in action as well as Joe Bob Briggs. Mike was great (what little they showed of him), but I was really thrilled to see Joe Bob Briggs. I had completely forgotten about him. The guy is really hilarious and likable. There aren't very many country types with great intelligence and humor on TV. Torgo, do you remember which network Joe Bob hosted the monster movie show for? I think it was either TBS or TNT, but do not remember. And what is the guy up to these days? And, Mike does look a little chubbier than before, in his face. Either that or his eyes have gotten smaller. But that's what happens to some men when they age.

It came on late Saturday nights if I'm not mistaken. He always had some wacky comments or skit concerning the movie. Mike did look a little chubbier compared to when he was last on TV in Diabolik but, you also gotta consider the time between. Hell, I've gotten a little chubbier since then. Servo

Are you sure it wasn't Monster Vision? That's what I remember it being. Anywho, Joel got some belly laughs out of me. He wasn't hillarious but his routine was nice. BUT, my biggest impression on that SNL episode was Jamie Lee Curtis. Holy poopie she was hot in the 80s.

I recorded the SNL appearance on VHS, but I only have rabbit ears, so the image is a little fuzzy, but very watchable. I got the SSMR broadcast recorded straight to DVD-R, perfect digital copy. I have a "cast appearances" tape that I got from afellow trader... Im not sure if that Joel appearance is on there.... Ill have to go check.
