Has anyone seen the preview for Walking Tall? I happened to see it Super Bowl day while at The Butterfly Effect.
If you have seen the trailer (or listened to the Kevin Murphy NPR piece), then you already know the premise, if so, skip the next few lines. Walking Tall stars The Rock as Joe Don Baker. A small town man who joined the Navy..or the Marines...or sumsuch....and came back, years later to find out that his little town is now Hill Valley circa Back to the Future 2. He becomes the sheriff and with a....ahem...large piece of lumber....proceeds to "clean up the town". The sad thing is, this movie was made in the first place. Another sad thing, is that it has been RE-made, as if to say to the public; "You didn't buy it the first time, but THIS time...uh....we have Mcdonalds tie-ins." Unfortunately, it stands to reason that this movie would be re-vamped and released now, because if you've SEEN Walking Tall, then you know that it was just a little before it's time. With today's digital technology, the average movie-goers bloodlust, and the tennancy of 87% of the populace to go see a movie because "The Rock" is in it, makes for a movie that should become Torque times 3. Do you think Joe Don is nursing his brused "Final Justice" ego with the knowledge that "The Rock" will soon be portraying him? I just hope he makes a cameo in the film so I can see the two of them bumbling through dialouge together.

Joe Don Baker V.S. The Rock No question, would pay lots of money to see the fight, but even a young Joe Don couldn't even take Rock's punches. Besides, Joe Don would smell what was cooking and become distracted.
