I'm curious to know if anyone knows the origin of Joel's "All over the world!!" joke he makes any time someone on the screen says those words. Anybody hip to this one?

Im not really sure.For some reason I think its a quote from A Mickey Rooney interview.But theres a good chance im wrong.

cornjob might be right. I've heard this in comedy before. I think it's from Mickey Rooney being the top movie draw in the 30's " all over the world."

Actually, according to The Amazing Colossal Episode Guide - pp. 171, it's in reference to a bit done by a comedian named Michael Floorwax.
I have know idea who he is either...

Hi,
I think Joel was referring to an old vaudeville routine where someone gets bonked on the head and as they slowly pass out, they say, "....and the lights went out...all over the world."
I have no idea where the routine comes from or what IT is referring to.

I can't imagine there are too many guys named Michael Floorwax, so that's probably him. It's not much of a stretch: stand-up comedian to DJ, I can see that. |
