This episode is one that grabs you and pulls you along and doesn't stop for an hour and a half.It gives you the affect that you are tripping because the movie is so 60's and white and the plot is so terribly bad.
I'm glad we recycle.

Which just supports my edict that one's reaction to the movie has an influence on one's opinion of the episode. The description is all about the movie. Sorry madcrowdisease but this is an opinion I have been pushing for a while and have argued on this board before.

Don't push it Phantom. And the jury's still out for me on this episode. I think I like it, but I'm just not sold yet.

This MST show was pretty funny at times, but, MAN!.....Why did Joel and the 'bots make so many negative "white people" jokes? Reading through these because I've always liked Catalina Caper a lot. Its steadily fallen down my rankings but maintains as a well-rated ep.... But has this question above been definitively answered given simple passage of time and more current events? I sure think so, and for me it lends an even greater appreciation for the awareness of such things among the entire writing staff to criticize it in riff form as early as 1990. Of course there was the intellectual crowd addressing it decades prior but to bring it to cable television earns at least this nod.

The episode is one of my favorite Joel episodes, but the movie alone is just dreadful. The only thing I like about it is Little Richard’s performance.
