I recently saw the episode titled Room with a Moose, and I was, well, shocked. It wasn't funny at all! I don't understand why my buddies think it's so funny! It's just like any other kids cartoon (minus Ren and Stimpy, of course). Are there actually any funny episodes at all?

When I was checking out the DAP for MST episoes there was a lot of stuff about Invader Zim. I'd never heard of it but it seemed to have a lot o fans. Of course that dosen't mean anything. A lot of popular stuff sucks.

Some of them are highly amusing, but it's nothing special. It is fun though, try to see at least one more episode before deciding.

A friend of mine (who is coming over to watch an episode of MST3K tonight, because I want to get him to become a fan) tells me that the episode with tacos or something is the funniest. I'm downloading that right now, so we'll see.
On the comment of TV, it's true. Nothing good is on. The only stuff i'd ever watch is Star Trek: TNG, Baseball, and maybe some anime on cartoon network. Otherwise, it's just all brain-numbing swill.

FYI: Frank Conniff (TV's Frank) was head writer of Invader Zim for a brief period, according to Satellite News.
MTV began to go downhill when it started showing videos by Backdoor Boys, Titney Spears, all the pop music sludge. Now it's just commercialized CRAP. If you want a music channel that actually PLAYS many kinds of music with less reality TV, try Fuse (formerly MuchMusic).
Comedy Central has a few good shows. Usually I watch Chapelle Show, Insomniac, Daily Show, and occasionally, South Park. Now if they could re-air their MST3K eps, I'd never change the channel.

I've got mixed feelings about Zim. I've seen a lot of episodes that I thought were absolutely brilliant, and a lot of other episodes that I loathed.
I've gotta say that A Room With A Moose isn't really the best example of the typical Invader Zim episode.
Can't think of anything else to add, though.

The one were he turns his wrecked space ship into a balloon that looks like a pig. I remember that one being very funny.

There was one....I think it was the last episode before the show was cancelled....where a competant invader from his home world arrived and was determined to make Zim look like a moron and steal Zim's job. Something about that episode seemed a little more polished than most of their others.

The show is definitely creative, to say the least, it just isn't funny. I saw the taco episode, and I maybe laughed twice, and it was just a snicker.

I think the creativity is actually what makes this show hard to watch. I like the way that they play with traditional sci-fi stereotypes, though some of the plots make no sense even through the sheer ridiculousness.
If it were a satire of something then I'd really like it, but I don't think that it's a satire. It's like an incredibly violent and angry show about nothing.

We've made a thread about children's channels? Ok,
I don't watch Nickelodeon at all, not since I was a youngin (of 6).
Cartoon Network has good Tom and Jerry, Warner Bros. shows on staurdays. And I'm immensly entertianed by Space Ghost: Coast to Coast, now on adult swim. I've been watching that show since I was 4 years old. It's so random and chaotic, you need a ceritan sense of humor. Which I just happen to posses, and you don't. Tah.

OH, YOU EVILS!! Before it got canceled, I used to think it was ONE of the funniest shows ever, However, I am only 11, and I was 9 when it came out, but trust me- this show is somewhat of a cult show, and not all of it's members go to Hot Topic. (Like me) The creator has a huge comic book fan base, even though it was mostly adults (because his comics were mostly adult-ish) But the stuff was so strange and random. . .you have to have a off of center type of humor to get it. It WAS funny to about 1.8 million children. And on nickeleo-whatever: I have not watched that channel since Invader Zim got cancled. Prior to that, it was just about the only show I watched. Case closed.

AND GOOD EPISODES: I don't know, I never watched the darned thing in ages. I still waiting for it on DVD.
And to My Pro-Zim speech: It is absolutely about nothing. And stupid. BUT IT IS FUNNY!! I don't know, I guess you have to have that type of humor where you think the strange dumb things are funny. Equally smart and stupid. I'll just shut up now.

I love totally random humor (see Spaceballs, or Hot Shots), but Zim didn't do it for me. It just felt like another cartoon that I used to brainlessly watch when I was a kid because I had nothing to do. It's alot flashier though.
