I find it very funny how Tom Cruise, the all-mighty white man, it the only survivor of the entire Samurai army LOL!

Once again, Forrest, you write the funniest damn reviews! And the movie sounds just like what I imagined it would be (so I am very glad that I didn't waste any $$$ to see it).

Ahhh, c'mon Forrest, it wasn't that horrible. Sure it was a major ripoff of every film for the last 10 years, but, hey, wait, it was that horrible.
Sorry,

Yeah but most film is. I haven't seen "Last Samurai" so I can't speak to it being bad or good, but if we start tossing out movies for being derivative then we'd have to include...
Alien: Was such a rip off of "It: Terror from Beyond Space" that the producers were sued!
Once Upon A Time In the West: One of my favorites but everyone knows its riffing on "Johnny Guitar"
I loved Pee Wee's Big Adventure, but the bar scene was a huge rip off from "Scavenger Hunt". Still we forgive and forget because Pee Wee's was a far better movie.
I see a reference to "Glory": The guy who did Glory also did Last Samurai. And I've read where Samurai riffs on "Gladiator" and "Dances With Wolves" both of which were inspired by elements in "Glory" which was direted by the same guy who did "Last Samurai", and all were paying homage to "Sparticus", which drew inspiration from the early silent epics of DW Griffith.
Hitchcock always used the same themes in his films -so it's okay for Zwick to do the same I think. And the fact that Kurosawa was heavily influenced by John Ford, doesn't diminish the importance of his movies.
Again, haven't seen it. But lets not kid ourselves, film has always been a medium which ate it's own tail.

That's too bad. While I'm not a fan of Tom (Servo yes, Cruise no). I loved Glory and am big into Japanese samurai history. So I had hope.
There's a story about the end of the Samurai. I can't remember the mans name, but it was about his and his followers final battles to maintain their way of life. Very interesting tale that would have made for a great movie.

I don't know about Cruise. To me, he was in the crappiest Kubrick movie ever and besides The Color of Money, I really can't think of a movie that he just really impressed me in.
Now I know I started something with the Kubrick but, I'm a Kubrick disciple and that movie blew.
Just my opinion,
