(CONTAINS POSSIBLE SPOILERS)
Wow. What a great little film. While it's not as good as Shrek or Toy Story 1 and 2, it's up there.
It definatly takes inspiration from other Disney movies. Example: the very begining is a "Bambi's mom getting shot" or "Scar killing Mufasa" kinda moment. Plus later we see something simmalar to something we see in Pinocchio.
Ellen DeGeneres steals the show as the forgetful Dory. Like Eddie Murphy's Donkey in Shrek, her character won't shut up and we love her because of that very reason.
Pixar's animation is beautiful. Probably the best animation job they've done so far and probably for years to come.
I'll be first in line for their next movie, The Incredibles. The trailer was funny and I like the premise. Jason Lee, Sam Jackson, and Craig Nelson? I am so there.
So in conclusion, on of the ten best movies I've seen this year. See it with you're kids or see it alone. Either way, you'll enjoy the hell out of this movie.
Just keep swimming....

I've gotta say that I totally agree with you when you say that it's a good movie. I'd actually rank it higher than the original Toy Story based on the way that Nemo doesn't linger on the exposition, but I agree that Toy Story 2 was better in a lot of ways.
And yeah, a fantastic visual display. Every time Pixar does something, they make some new visual breakthrough. I just can't wait to see what it is in "The Incredibles."

Personally I'd rank TS1 above TS2. While 2 had an incredibale story for a sequel (A SEQUEL FOR GODS SAKE!) I always thought the "Buzz I am you're father" thing was a little too cheap. And I did find the ultimate fates of Other Buzz and Zurg odd. Zurg was just trying to kill him and now they're playing catch? Did Zurg land on his head after that fall or what? But then again, I could brush this off as over-analizing a children's film...

Yeah, I thought that was a bit cheesey, but I'm pretty quick to brush off stuff that's definitely in to appeal to younger audiences. I think that I also gave it bonus points for being a sequel, so it kinda boosted to a higher place than TS1 just because I was giving it a pretty high handicap anyway.
But knowing that, I still don't change my opinions on the ranking, so I'm happy. I think. Maybe....

Actually a very profound statement when you think about it.

All four are really good movies. Anyone who hasn't seen them should. Even if you don't like most kids movies.

Yeah. Shrek was just fun, and most stuff by Pixar is really great. I could've done without Bugs Life, but that still wasn't as bad as some of the other things that were going on at the time, movei-wise.

I'm going to have to rewatch that some day. I didn't think Monsters Inc. was that special though. Pretty much the only CG animated movies I haven't seen are Antz and Dinosaur.

What I love about Finding Nemo is the jellyfish field. That is incredible animation! Wow. I got Ice Age at the same time for my little guy and I like that story too. Kind of a Three Godfathers/Three Kings take off, but pretty funny. I liked that better than Shrek.

Shrek? Nothing's more Mike Myers-y than that great big stupid orc-man. The film made my small-yet-fattening cookie dough candy come right back out of my mouth, but it was nothing compared to the vomit-fest of Corkey Romano.

Ha! The seagulls. Now my two year old, when asked what a bird says, replies, "Mine! Mine! Mine!" Funny stuff.

Those seagulls have to be the most quoted part of Finding Nemo. Everytime I mention that movie in a group, someone inevitably gets this dopey look on their faces and starts to say "mine" over and over. It's not unfunny yet, but it's starting to get mundane.
