Considering how monomaniacal she's been at preventing anyone from using any of her material over the last 20 years, my assumption is that she probably has a trust set up so that when she dies it will also continue to prevent her films from being distributed in perpetuity unless some ridiculous monetary thresholds are met. Same thing with Wade and Rocketship XM. I'm well aware of Wade's desire to continue this nonsense with Rocketship XM beyond his death. I just have to wonder how badly anyone involved with these films aside from those two really want to continue to NOT make money off these half dozen old movies between now and when they fall into the public domain. so 2045 or 46 for Rocketship XM then.

The first MSTie who wins the Powerball jackpot has to buy Hart and Williams out. Deal? I have ZIM, those are a pretty trillion dollar notes, if the RV is here, I will see to it that every single MST3K episode will belong to the fans. In return I want all the releases and for Shout! to plan out a total series release of everything. And for Dave Long or someone to help me with my blogger to finish some items in that. Other than that, I would not take any money for it. They can donate it to the welfare of animals and the homeless.

I just read about the Susan fiasco with Shout and yeah, that’s absolutely crazy and ridiculous.
Far as I’m concerned, I too am now convinced even after her passing we aren’t going to see any of her films again soon. But I guess only time will tell....

Well, using my handy, dandy PACER login which I am most assuredly not supposed to be using for this... It appears that Susan sued Shout, Ballyhoo and Daniel Griffith for their AIP documentary, "It Was a Colossal Teenage Movie Machine" included in Volume XXXIV, in which she alleges that clips of her "creepy sci-fi and horror films" (her exact words on the filing) are being exploited without her direct consent. She claims that because they use clips of these movies in the documentary, she is owed 100 grand. Shout claims fair use. Discovery should've been finished last month. Both parties want a trial if settlement isn't reached. Looks like it was sent to Mediation. Well, that's Susan Hart for yah. People can say what they will about Wade Williams, but at least the guy has been relatively reasonable about licensing his titles to Shout. Even if we never see ROCKETSHIP X-M, we at least have the rest the titles he owns officially. Susan is taking this sh*t far too seriously.

Hart must be rolling in dough, because she's certainly not making anything off the movies she owns. I'm surprised she doesn't have minions attending conventions handing out cease and desist letters to dealers who have old garage kits of the monsters from her movies for sale.

While Williams has come to terms with Shout over the MST titles he owns (other than Rocketship), he has not been reasonable about licensing overall, most companies won't deal with him because (1) he tends to ask high prices, like Susan Hart, and (2) he has a history of entering into negotiations, spending months on back and forth, and then pulling out of the negotiations without warning. Perhaps he is slightly more reasonable than Susan Hart, but only slightly -- and he has said that she is behaving reasonably and everybody is always trying to rip her off, so I'm not even sure about the slightly.

I came on here to warn people, Deep Discount currently has a listing for "Mystery Science Theater 3000 vol XL". This is inaccurate. If you click on it, you will see that it's actually vol 11 (they meant XI). I have contacted them to get it corrected, but in the mean time I don't want anybody to think XL has a release date and order it and then find out that it's just the reissue of vol 11. So DON'T ORDER "VOL XL" unless you want Vol XI.

Yeah, it's to the point where I highly doubt we'll see any of his library released on Blu-ray unless he tries to self-distribute. I try to look on the bright side when it comes to MST3k releases.

Prince's estate threw all of his stuff up online about five minutes after he passed. Wade's estate will likely start making deals not terribly long after, either.
