I think they were referring to Master Ninja III with the FVI opening credits, which I don't even know if that actually exists or not. And if I'm not mistaken, were the FVI sources even released commercially or were they just syndicated to television?

Oh wow, I had no idea these were actually released onto VHS! I would love to find the Marooned, Los Nuevos Extraterrestres and The Stranger FVI edits in their Space Travelers, Pod People and Stranded in Space releases for the sake of having those clean intros and outros.

I've always had the sneaking suspicion that from Season 4 on, right before FVI got the hammer dropped on them, they were selling movies with the FVI treatment straight to Best Brains and skipping VHS distribution altogether, or at least BBI got first dibs. A direct-to-consumer kind of deal with BBI.

The other Master Ninja (3-7) VHS tapes exist, but they are hard to find. I've seen the various covers on Amazon and Ebay.

The version of MN1 you own is the only one I have found that is linked to FVI. Maybe there are others but I haven't seen them.

Well the mystery deepens. Also fun fact I got that copy of Master Ninja 1 signed by Joel when he came to Retro Con in Oaks Pa a few years back. That said there's yet another version of Master Ninja 1 that was floating on ebay many years back with this cover forrestcrow.proboards.com/thread/22619/deceitful-master-ninja-video-coverCertainly fits the spirit of Film Ventures inc.

Good catch. And look what I found on eBay? www.ebay.com/itm/284490551734?hash=item423cf551b6:g:tLoAAOSwCo5halbRFVI Copyright and distributed by some company called Quality Video Inc (from Minneapolis, no less). Looks like something that would've come out in the very late 80s or early 90s. I'm tempted to buy it but I have no way to digitize it.

Quality Video Inc., Formed April 1990 in Minneapolis Minnesota, dissolved December 1999. Shortly before MST3K started using FVI movies in season 2, and shortly after the end of the show in Season 10. Hmmm...

Quite random, but: Ed Montoro is Joe Bob Briggs' Most Wanted tonight on The Last Drive-In on Shudder, complete with a poster displayed on the stage. They're showing Montoro/FVI's Antropophagus, and Joe Bob is digging into the sordid story of Montoro and the company.
