Hey jjb, I have a question for you.
I also draw a lot, and I was wondering if you had any suggestions on how to draw cartoon hands. I always have problems when it comes to the hands. I can get them to look decent, but they're always either too big, or the wrists don't look right, etc...

It's hard to explain verbally how to draw something. If you really need help, my advice is to seek out the book "Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Cartooning But Were Afraid to Draw" by Christopher Hart. He offers how-to advice on everything, including a comprehensive guide to drawing cartoon hands. The book has certainly helped me, and I'm sure it should do the same for you.

Looking at my pictures again, I decided to redesign the robots a little bit. I thought Servo's neck was too thick, and Crow's beak didn't really look very expressive. Thus, I offer these slightly redesigned versions. Revenge for a stolen chicken puppet

Hee! Those are cute. Is Tom whistling? I think Crow would love how you draw him--his arms look so buff! Though it's odd to see his arms actually stretched out for once.

Hee! Those are cute. Is Tom whistling? Actually, Tom's supposed to have this dumbfounded "He's behind me, isn't he?" look on his face. It's hard to convey without eyes.

They remind me a lot of old Warner Bros--in the best way, promise. Have you considered doing a comic instead of a cartoon?

They remind me a lot of old Warner Bros--in the best way, promise. Have you considered doing a comic instead of a cartoon? Actually, I had considered doing an MST3K comic at one point. It'd be awfully time consuming to do it the way I wanted to, though - my idea was to have the guys riff on really bad comic books, with the shadowrama drawn at the bottom of each panel. I'd have to find some old and really obscure bad comics, then I'd have to scan them in (and I don't even have a scanner)...it's something that's better suited to those with more time on their hands. BTW, my drawing style is primarily influenced by Warner Bros. classic cartoons. I've studied their history and the drawing techniques used by the studio, and it's amazing how much comedic subtlety went into those cartoons.

I've toyed around with the idea of doing MST comic, but doing a Season 11 with a plot rather than have them mock old comics (not that it wouldn't be funny--as an avid comic reader I can think of plenty of great fodder). I have it outlined, and maybe I'll just make it a massive fan-fic after I finish some of my current projects.

Wow, that would be great! Even if it was just a 3 panel strip, it would be cool.

I really like your designs, although you tend to give them too much hair, especially Dr. Forrester.
