Anyone who hung out at the Sci-Fi Channel's board would know why I'm here. Of course, since being moderated and the disappearance of spamming troll, it's not a bad place to be. But it's too quiet there. I think everyone's joined the "Org". I would too, but they still haven't activated my membership. And I think this board is more fun. It's fresh and new, being built from scratch. I see articles on their board that haven't had a response in almost a year. I will recommend this forum to those who haven't discovered it yet. Plus I don't think their board has all the cool tags like....

I found another board (can't remember it though) that was kinda good, but they were really wierd and were a bunch of post-whores. One of them even claimed to be Bill Corbett's son. Thanks for the fresh board, and welcome GoldBootGirl!

I think the ORG is a bit stuck up and unfriendly. This looks like a better place to be.

I've not been to another mst3k board, so I don't have a standard of comparison.
However, what I like about this board is the overall social grace that underlies everyone's postings. And that whether you're a newbie who doesn't know the difference between Joel and Mike or an uber-geek who can list all of the Bert I. Gordon episodes from memory, you get treated well. (With appropriate minimal flaming).
And since I am an uber-geek, I really like that when I say something random like Persis Khambatta, someone will actually know what I'm talking about.

What are "The Amazing Colossal Man, and Beginning of the End?" And who is the former Miss India whose biggest Hollywood role was Lieutenant Ilia in Star Trek the Motion Picture.
I used the internet to cheat.

So it is the quality of people who make the board what it is, and the moderators to make sure it stays that way. And of course, that there are alot of fun categories. Something for everyone. Thanks Forrest! ;D

Yeah, I totally agree. Once more (not trying to over-do it or anything) this is one of the best MST3K bulletin boards I've seen. Every topic of interest has it's own special place so there's no hunting through thousands of posts to find something and all the people here are super-nice and always seem to have something intelligent to say and smart, new topics to post. Hope to be here with you guys a while. Thanks Forrest, God knows we needed it,
Servo

One other great thing about this board is this:
Whatever thread you post on comes to the top of the list. So you can go back to a thread from months ago and start talking about it again. On the Sci-Fi board, every time a new thread was posted, it would start bumping the oldest threads to the previous page. And then no one would read them. So if alot of spammers put in bogus threads, no would get a chance to respond to my thread or my game. On this board it's based on the popularity of the thread, NOT on if it's new or old.
That all doesn't surprise me. The Sci-Fi board lacked a moderator and they didn't spend the time to structure a board that couldn't be attacked by spammers.

I'm a sci-fi boarder refugee as well... my theory about the spimmers and the spammers is that they are people who like the show (mostly) but are too dumb to do anything creative on their own so in a kind of weird jealousy make the most banal and stupid posts possible and probably in fact think they're really clever...in fact think they're mimicing the show by spamming the board (hey, Joel and Mike and bots are spamming the movies, right? Get it!) But, hey, Joel, Mike and company, guys, they are clever...funny...the trogs just don't get this. The creepiest thing that ever happened to me was when The Thunderer responded to something I'd posted by saying "Losingmydignity, I like you..." At that moment I knew what it was like to be a woman who had been introduced to some total loser scum at a party and, at the end of the night, had him breathe his beery breath on my neck and whisper the above words...YUCK-O

My creepiest thing by Thunderer/Secret Santa was that he/she/it kept on insisting that I "whitewave1" was a 13-year old. Maybe he had a thing for child molesting. And while on the subject of gossip, Thunderer also insisted that he was a school teacher. Weird??? Thanks for coming over, losing my dignity.

Welcome, losingmydignity!
I don't remember whether you're married now or not. If you are, (and if you aren't) congratulations once again.

I forgot to mention... Thunderer also said he was Vietnam vet. His obsession with penises and anal sex is what lead me to ask him if he was an unregistered child offender.
