Come on people.....bottom line, you should be able to get into an institute, or something, if you're the better choice, not because of your skin color. End of story. Did you know that an African-American applied for an African-American scholarship, met all the standards, and got turned down because she was white.

BobJohnston will have a lame ass excuse for this. Well, in my book, if they have a scholarship for people who they call "African Americans", then they should follow up and not tip-toe around the issue. "African" is an adjective for a continent, not askin color. Just say "colored" or something, rather than some vague term that encompasses a continent and the millions of people who live there. They use a generic term and they should follow through with their promise.

I agree with Forrest, Ator, and Nightfalcawk in theory, but the laws in place are set, in my opinion, with good intention. It would be naive to believe that schools, and companies are not sometimes run by racist white individuals who will not hire blacks, mexicans, etc. unless they are forced to do so. In these cases, minorities need some kind of protection. It's unfortunate, and it's unfair to a lot of people, but it does make some sense. The system needs to be reworked, but I do understand the basic idea behind it.

I agree with you about schools in a lot of cases. Particularly as it pertains to government grants, as that's the one thing that's affecting my education right now personally. Jobs might be different though because ultimately you often have one guy deciding who gets the jobs. I wouldn't be surprised if schools were the same way, but I'm not informed enough to really comment.
I think we all just have to realize the fact that racism is more common in today's society than a lot of people are willing to accept. I hate to think that we still live in a society that is actually quite primitive in this respect, but you can't get away from the fact that racism exists very strongly in today's society. As long as this is the case, we have to recognize it, even though it's not pleasant to do so. And to be fair it's on all sides. It's certainly not just whites who are racist. I've seen or experienced enough to know that.

Yep. South Park and Howard Stern seem to get away with it. I totally agree with this point. I don't care about being made fun of as a white person as long as it's all in good fun, but why can't it go both ways? This fact makes me bitter towards jokes directed at whites from blacks. It kinda feels like someone kicking you in the nuts and running away afterwards.

Yes vague politcal correctness. To say that all people from Africa are colored is racist by definition. racism: a belief that some races are by nature superior to others. also, discrimination based on such a belief. To say that all people from Africa are colored is dumb, prejudice, but not racist
