Calvin and Hobbes has been my favorite comic strip ever since I was a kid. My Grandmother used to cut them out of the daily paper and save them for me. I have all the books, Attack of the Deranged Mutant Killer Snow Goons (did I get that right?) is my all time favorite. I think that all the wisdom in the known universe can be found somewhere in the Calvin and Hobbes collection if you look hard enough.
What I always found really neat is how Bill Watterson’s artwork starts off simply good in the early books, and you can see him actually grow and expand into a really great artist as the series goes on. Calvin and Hobbes was more than a daily comic strip; it was something special. I wish Mr. Watterson was still making them.
Poopie. Now if you’ll excuse me, Space Man Spiff awaits!

The Far Side and Calvin and Hobbes are the best comics of all time. The funny pages are pretty bland now.

Frazz is a good successor to Calvin & Hobbes. You can see the drawing similarities, and the writing is intelligently funny.

I miss my favorite pillow. I left it in a motel in Florence, Oregon about 12 years ago.

Bill Waterson retired, not because he was out of ideas, but because he was reclusive and hated the attention he got from the series. He is now painting. Did you know that the Spaceman Spiff sub-series was his original plan for a cartoon? Thank God he didn't do that.
