It's not particularly hard to guess. Some old love named Ryan who broke her heart. Perhaps he was under the impression that they were just friends. Perhaps they had something that was lost over time. Could be deeper, but it doesn't matter. Either way she's hurting and can't forget about it.

I don't think that would be it. Guys don't have that much influence on other guys. If a guy is really into a girl his friends certainly aren't going to talk him out of it. There's little loyalty there in these situations.
