Inspired by cheese, and all those "Unsavory's..." threads. Here's the place to spread the word about the greatest food in all the land....
There's a little place in Evanson, which sits in the corner of the Wyoming/Utah border. It was right next to the motel we stayed at (Super 8, I think) and the food was mouth watering.
Our dinner was sooo damn good, we anxiously treked over there the next morning to see if it was all an illusion, or would breakfast be as good.
Dman skippy, it was!
I would normally have no desire to ever return to Wyoming, it's barren, dry and windy. But for the taste of that tender roast beef, those juicy strawberry's, ahh, I'd make an exception. (oh, but the people were nice too, I gotta give them that)
(Now there's a Pizza place in Kansas that you want to avoid at all cost. It's like someone crapped on cardboard and tried to pass it off as pepperoni with extra cheese! "shudder")

I had some really good Italian food at Buca's (di beppo or something like that) Anyway, you need to try this one pasta dish: Penne pasta al dente, of course, artichoke hearts, chicken breast, and a slightly spicy, creamy alfredo sauce...it was really good!
There was this grrreat French place in Atlanta called the South of France where I dined on salad with the best dressing I have ever tasted... And another place in Georgia: Tutu Tangos, in Buckhead, where you can try alligator!
Filet Mignon was spectacular at the Montecito Cafe.
And as for seafood, nothing beats this little surf shack off highway 101. It's near the beach, and they have amazing fried clams, fish and chips, etc.
Burger joints? Try Fat Burger or In-N-Out There aren't any Ma & Pa restaurants that come to mind right now. And as for dessert? Ice cream fans can head to Cold Stone Creamery Frozen Yogurt people on to Penguin's. And for those of us who like tiramisu? I had the best piece at La Piccolo de Molli in Paseo Nuevo.

There's a place here that serves the best Afgahni-Belgian-Italian-American food, called the Potato Republic. It makes McDonald's fries taste like schist. And the wraps are awesome.

When I went to France, I went to this French place, and I had some pretty mean Chicken Parmesan.
French people cook good.

If you are ever in the Chicago land area you owe it to yourself to visit Portillo’s. It has the best “Chicago style” food that Chicago has to offer. The hot dogs kick ass and the Italian beef sandwiches are the best in the world. There are several of them in Chicago, and you can actually have their food shipped to you now. tastesofchicago.com/vendor.asp?id=32Seriously, best food I have ever eaten.

* They can't do Chinese food worth a damn in Tennessee. I worked with a guy from New York and he missed his Chinese food (delivery even) so much. I felt his pain and I don't know how good NY Chinese is. * They do great burgers tho. Took my wife to this dive called Browns, a smokey, ugly little place. The kind she hates and is afraid of (She's a bit prissy - But the burgers are incredible and she forgave me for taking her there because they were so delicious. * Also the Pancake Pantry in Nashville. It's always packed (and sometimes you might see a Titan or some musical artist there) but the special pancakes are worth the wait. * Beleive it or not, I've NEVER been to the famous "Loveless Cafe" in Nashville. I need to change that.

I'm gonna move north one of these days and maybe just for the pasties. You notherners are so lucky to have those. My grandparents live in Marquette Michigan and I've always looked foward to having my very own whole pasty every time. MMM hamburger and potatos baked in a bread dome with tender flaky crust and of course you need it with ketchup. So if you're ever in Marquette, get a pasty from the only shop there that specializes in only pasties (I forget the name but it's take-out only). Speaking of Marquette, I remember a thread VanHagar started about northerners being the funniest and I completely forgot about my Uncle Al. The funniest man EVER! Everything he did or said was for our amusement. I'll mention the one time our family went to the local museum and they had a sign up log for some kind of raffle, inside. Well my dad's wife is german (he's lived in Germany for 25 years) and as she's going up to sign it, my uncle comes over to where me and my brother are standing and says in a loud enough voice for everyone to hear "Oh, you don't have to sign your name, Ingrid. Just put a big ol swastika on there.". Me and my brother let out a huge laugh and I don't know if she heard but it was so funny just because he didn't care if she or my dad did hear (and they're both kind of a professional type). I still laugh at that one of his many funny moments. So I'm moving north one day. Edit: ahh thank you google www.lawryspasties.com/

Let me see, In St Augustine, FL you have to go to Gypsy Cab Company, affectionately known around here as "Death by Garlic." On a summer night you can smell the place two blocks away! Seriously order the seafood Fra Diablo. It may not be on the menu, but they will make it for you on request. It is a seriously good seafood and pasta disk. Nobody will be able to get near you for days for the garlic breath! Chocolate deserts to die for and good wine.
Looking for good Hiss and Whips ?(Fish and Chips) try the Ship Anson in Porstmouth England. It was excellent. At least it was 4 years ago. Good bangers (sausages) as well.

Something I really miss about the west coast: JACK IN THE BOX! Their tacos are SO friggin' good. Same with the french toast sticks. Yummy.
Texas has the best steakhouses ever created.
Chicago has this really great pizza joint called Lou Malnatti's (I think that's the spelling). Best deepdish pizza i've ever had.

Best airplane food: Delta has a little baggie with a sandwhich, water, chips, cookie, nothing is stale or soggy so that's always good.
Best buffet-style place(s): Souplantation and Fresh Choice
Best Candy place: Jelly Belly factory...juicy pear, nuff said.
