Yeah, that shouldn't be any problem to do. They can just allow the track to be applied to either version. The only thing I can think of for why they wouldn't do it is the fact that Mike Nelson obviously records his commentary in front of the colorized version as he sometimes comments on it (the crack about the stern, glasses-wearing guy from Reefer Madness being black and white in real life, for example) but that's not a big deal.

I hate the colorization BUT, They did offer commentary on both Color and B&W on Haunted Hill and Carnival. So no reason for complaint. I didn't know that about Haunted Hill. On Carnival I always thought it was just a fluke of the way it was authored. You have to do it in a round about way. Is it a menu option on Haunted Hil?

Yup, you go into special feature and Mike talks to you. Then click the on button for the commentary and you have the option to go to either version.
I mentioned it in my review, I watched a few chapters of the color and didn't care for it. But an old showman like William Castle would have probably loved it. And maybe even Ed Wood would have gotten a kick out of all this attention and color and auctions. (at least the Johnny Depp version would have enjoyed it)

Then I might buy it. See Barry, that's what it takes to get my business.

Hill House is outstanding, I loved it. Well worth the purchase. (and I'm a Castle fan, so this was a dream pairing)

So far I like the Mike commentaries. Well, I should say I liked the commentary on NOTLD... I can't find any of the other ones. Mike riffing is fun, but without the inside jokes and lame set-each-other-up gags, it just isn't the same... but it'll do.

I think it is a great choice of movies for Mike to riff. But I'm not bidding to be in the movie. That idea is kinda lame. Am I the only one who finds this blasphemous? This is the Citizen Kane of cult movies. Colorizing it is one thing (because they include a B&W version on the disc as well)... And the money's not even going to Wood's family or charity...but into Legend's pocket (which is really just a division of Fox). This is sick, IMHO.

I kinda like the idea of a "customized" gravestone. Maybe we could pool our money and have something like:
Van Hagar 1978 - 2009
He was a SOB
or
Skyroniter
Beloved Husband, Father & Episode Provider
or
Here Lies ColmanFrancisFan
"I Like Weather"

The eBay auction is going well with all the press just getting out. It's interesting that companies are asking whether they can put their logo on the wall in the Lagosi attack scene or the name of their company on the tomb stone. We don't care... just about anything short of frontal nudity is fine with us. One thing not mentioned in the auction is that the winners also get an end credit on the colorized version.

I don't think we really had your business Atari. Gotta lighten up on this one. The colorized version is outrageous with an anything goes attitude... one I believe Ed Wood would have gotten a genuine kick out of. His original pristine black and white version never looked better on the same DVD... an item he would likely have appreciated considering the shlock prints that have floated around for decades. Finally a print that is watchable and with Mike's commentary as well. Would Ed Wood have been fan of MST3K... I'd put money on it.

You have my business on this one, color or no color (and I'm not one of the ones whining about the color). Plan 9 is the ultimate bad movie, and having Mike on it puts it at the top of my wish list.
I'm just saying that full frontal nudity would "raise" my interest in the movie, so to speak...
