I myself don't see this as any kind of 'blasphemy'. Plan 9 is a turd. And it might be the grandest turd of all... but it still stinks nomatter how you slice it. Plus, it's not like Legend is making permanent changes to the film and that the original will never be seen again. Valid point...but at the same time, they're calling these "restorations". And you can see that some work is being done on the film quality. But, for example, Reefer Madness is sorely in need of a restoration and I - being the lover of strange movies that I am - was hoping that Legend was going to do right by the film while having fun with it. However, as much as I enjoy watching Reefer Madness with Mike's commentary, the best and most complete copy of the film out there is still the one released by Something Weird Video in their "THC Triple Feature" DVD....and that has a roadshow title card that calls it Doped Youth. Good prints of these movies aren't going to be around forever. And these aren't like a Gone With the Wind or Wizard of Oz where it's easy to sell studios on restoring them because of the money they can make if they do....even cheesy movies have their place in history (remember Servo's comment in Screaming Skull about the filmmakers not actually expecting their drive-in audience to be watching at that point?). And now they're going to "restore" Plan 9 but add someone's face and/or name where it wasn't before on all versions on the disc. What's the point of cleaning the film up just to crap on it in a different way? Rant over.

Hopefully the additions will only be in the colorized version and hopefully the B&W will have the commentary.

The restored black and white version will be as pristine as when Ed Wood created it. That is and always has been the policy at Legend Films.

That is and always has been the policy at Legend Films. Fair enough. As far as movies to do in the future...have you ever thought of Chained for Life? It stars the Hilton Sisters from the movie Freaks. And then there's Marihuana, Assassin of Youth, Sex Madness, Damaged Lives or Wages of Sin?

I'd love to see some of the KTMA and season 1 movies get the Legend treatment. That way, not only can we get these classic bad films restored, but Mike could get another chance to riff 'em.
Like "The Crawling Eye" or "The Slime People" or "Phase IV", etc.

I hate to be a gloomey guss, but I doubt we'll ever see the KTMA's. Mallon has stated they don't own the rights and Rhino didn't even included them on the poll, a sign that there not even on the radar as a possible release.
A great idea Mr. Atari, but you know, I'd like to see Rhino do this with the film crew. In fact what a double feature release that would make. Rhino could release the original Crawling Eye with Joel, Josh and Trace, and another commentary version with the film crew.
I'd love them to take a shot at the KTMA movies, Deathfight, Hangar 18, last Chase.

I dont think BBI wants to release KTMA's period... No, I meant have Legend do Phase IV because there's no possiblity of Rhino ever touching it. But the others like The Crawling Eye and The Slime People....having a version with a new Mike commentary track might put them off. And given a choice, I'd rather have the original episode.

This won't be any different than other movie's mike has done a commentary on.

This won't be any different than other movie's mike has done a commentary on. Is that a bad thing? No, seriously...only Legend disc I have (so far) is Reefer Madness...and I've heard conflicting opinions of the others.

Well, I liked Mike's commentary on House as well. I've only seen clips from Plan 9, so this should be very interesting...

I like the idea for Plans 1-8. That has some potential to be funny.

I like the idea for Plans 1-8. That has some potential to be funny. It bombed when that SNL-clone show "Fridays" tried it.
