Okay so I guess the obvious question is will you be willing to double dip if Shout gives us new extras? I wonder if Shout will continue Rhino's "Collection" DVD's, or give us single discs a la Film Crew? Are full season's even POSSIBLE? Questions, questions, questions....

If this were truly the case, Shout would have released Season 2 of "Heathcliff and the Catillac Cats" by now.
I also have hated the way Shout has released their America's Funniest Home Videos sets.

Since I use Josh's covers, I dont really care about the box art. What I would like to see is more DVDs!
I really doubt they would start their new venture by releasing movies Rhino already released.
I am curious about the possibility of downloading the movies from their site and if this increases the chance of more Film Crew DVDs.

I remember a story about how Rhino was dropping most of the things they usually worked on, leaving MST3K as the ONE entity they still had left.

I'll probably get these just 'cause they're MST (assuming they aren't hideous looking), but my real hope is for the KTMA eps. Slim hope, but still hope.

So since Shout! will have exclusive rights to MST3K, does that mean that all the Rhino episodes will be out-of-print and therefore tradable again?

I wonder if they'll continue the 4 episode collections, or go a different route? Either way this is exciting news. They did a good job with the Film Crew releases.
Also I guess this means Rhino is now completely out of the tv dvd business.
Should we start buying up the Rhino collections that we don't have now?

Good news! Good riddence to Rhino! Udvankory finally lost! ;D
Although Samurai makes a point and I should start buying collections.
Question though, is how will Shout! get the rights to anything? I actually thought the best place of MST to go would have been Image (which has a lot of MST movies rights).

I just heard the news! Wow...I guess Rhino really is "getting out of the TV on DVD market"... So...about the "Giant Gila Monster" single disc... Ahh!! I have every Rhino MST DVD. Really hope there's no double dipping nearly already release 50 episodes. I really don't know how to react to this Right, it would really suck if they released a 4 pack with 2 released and 2 unreleased episodes for example. We shall see. Interesting news. My thoughts exactly. But I have a feeling Shout! Factory will stick with unreleased episodes. I mean, they have to realize that would seriously piss off MSTies...and they'd sell fewer copies as a result. The series lasted 11 seasons and includes 198 episodes, all of which are ultimately bound for both DVD and digital distribution through Shout! Factory. No way! Season zero, too!? They can't be serious! ;D Does this mean we could see a season seven set? ;D

So since Shout! will have exclusive rights to MST3K, does that mean that all the Rhino episodes will be out-of-print and therefore tradable again? That's what I was wondering. I'm just kind of curious how long those Rhino sets will be available. There are still several I don't already have. Either way, as problematic as Rhino could be, at least I knew what I was dealing with. I'll hold off on judgment until I see what Shout delivers. Still, interesting news.

Just got the following response from Dr. Rhino regarding the single disc release: “Dear David, A single disc of The Giant Gila Monster is scheduled for a 2/5/08 release, exclusively at www.rhino.com. Dr. Rhino” Dave

I wonder if Rhino was telling the fans that the movies were too pricy to get so they didn't have to bother with it. I don't think that Rhino is the devil like some people, but after I got my copy of "Merlin's Shop of Mystical Wonders," I was so damn mad at the complete lack of competence.
That's why I'm wondering if we can start to get broadcast copies of Rhino episodes, as I know that Skyroniter has a much better copy than that DVD that Rhino crapped out.
