The price is great news, though I expect there'll be a S&H charge tacked on. The picture at SN certainly implies that this will be shipped in a paper sleeve--I suppose we were expecting that.

From the same Wired blog post that Sky noted above, some more info on the Gila disc skit by Joel, J. Elvis, Trace, and Frank: [...]the original MST3K cast of Joel Hodgson, Crow T. Robot and Tom Servo will return (just briefly) on the Feb. 5 DVD release of the original show's episode 402: The Giant Gila Monster. [...] Joel and the robots return to the Satellite of Love to demonstrate how to insert the new DVD into the original set without upsetting Godzilla or copyright lawyers. Dr. Clayton Forrester (Trace Beaulieu) and TV's Frank (Frank Conniff) lend a hand from Deep 13. The DVD will be available only at Rhino's website for a limited time as of Feb. 5 for $7.98. It's going to be wonderful to see those guys pick up those roles again! I don't care if the skit's one minute long. It's worth $7.98 to me for that alone. But Wired really should have given credit for the Rothko-esque Botko illustration to Jean's MST3K Gallery.

Well, that's great news about the price.
I am a little confused on Joel, Trace and Frank picking up their roles for the DVD sketch they were talking about. I mean, if Joel is on the outs with Mallon why would he agree to do promotional work for him? And is Servo going to be voiced by Josh or Kevin? The blog doesn't seem to say.
It will be worth getting the disc for, regardless.

I mean, if Joel is on the outs with Mallon why would he agree to do promotional work for him? Exactly. This is another point that leads me to believe that tales of simmering animosity between the Brains are greatly exaggerated. Maybe Joel and J. Elvis couldn't keep working day-to-day with Mallon 15-20 years ago. That doesn't mean they hate his livin' guts and refuse to have anything to do with him ever again. Besides which, Joel has confirmed in previous interviews that he does get a cut of the DVD profits. As the blog writer implies, it's likely also a cross-promotional tie-in for CT. And is Servo going to be voiced by Josh or Kevin? The blog doesn't seem to say. It's pretty clear that Servo will be voiced by J. Elvis. Note it says, "the original MST3K cast." Satellite News said back in November that "one of the features of the disk will be a short sketch featuring Joel Hodgson, Trace Beaulieu and J. Elvis Weinstein commenting on the SNAFU that led to the withdrawal and re-release." I guess Frank's appearance is another bonus!

Is this sketch going to be on the full Vol. 10.2 as well, or are there going to be two different versions? (I'd assume they'll be the same, but just making sure.)

My memory isn't strong enough to take me all the way back to November It will be kind of weird hearing Josh's voice doing new Servo material, especially on a disc featuring a Kevin episode.

I gotta say, news that Joel is getting back in the jumpsuit is really exciting! I will definitely be ordering this on the first day!
I personally await the endless obsessive debate over what part in the MST timeline this short skit will take place. The involvement of TV's Frank suggests that it takes place post Season 1, but Josh-era Servo is involved!
Let's hope the universe doesn't split as a result of this crossover... ;D

Anyone know anything about if it'll be available worldwide?
The sketch and a great episode mean this is essential, especially at that price. Even if the shipping's dear to over here (if they send it here!) it won't feel as bad as the original price still only works out at £4!

Man I hope they're telling it right about the sketch and not giving semi-fake news. Don't want to be sadden to see it's not like them in Robot/Mad forms.

It would be great if they were makings this sketch... regardless of how they'll have aged. I'm ordering this thing tomorrow.

Also, Kevin voiced a noticeably upgraded Tom Servo puppet. So Josh voicing Tom Servo potentially makes it stranger considering what bot they use. Or maybe Dr. Forester and TV's Frank finally locate Dr. Erhardt. Whatever happens, it sounds neat.
