In the past 10 months or so I've seen three good shows: Leaves' Eyes -> Easily my favorite group, it was phenomenal to see them in person. The show was great for the budget that a smaller group works with. Liv Kristine is enchanting, and her husband's voice is full of raw power; the dichotomy is just amazing. And the quality of the music (from lyrics to production) made the live show that much better. Lacuna Coil -> Good show, but the crowd tried to get a little too wild. It's heavy music, but not as heavy as the mosh pit would lead a viewer to believe. All in all not that memorable, but fun nonetheless, and solid music. Rasputina -> What a unique group; these guys are the best. Neo-Victorian Cello Rock? How many groups can say they play ass-kickin cello rock? It may take some listenings to grow on many people, but it's fantastic. And man, those chicks rock those cellos! ^^ Gonna have to update this after I see Loreena McKennitt in a few days. I've been wanting to see her perform for a decade now, so I'm pretty excited

I've just found out mental Japanese act Boredoms are playing Glasgow next month and I'm having a hard time convincing anyone to go. Bloody mates and their Rod Stewart worship. The last time they played they used 77 drummers: www.viva-radio.com/77Boadrum/video.phpI need to see them!

Concerts are kinda spur of the moment for me anymore...i have a friend with an "in" at the local small concert house and it has been a while since I have been to a concert at the local arena. Here's a list of most of the bands I have seen:
Metallica: 6 times....(2)Hamptn, Va., (2)Richmond Va., (2)Tokyo, Japan.
Clash of the Titans....This was in '92(I think) and it was Alice In Chains opening for Anthrax, Megadeth and Slayer. That was cool.
Gwar at a beachclub where I grew up (not where I live now)...THAT was an unbelievable show...they had a thing called a "crap-apult" and they lauched faux crap into the audience among other things.....interesting to say the least.
Nirvana with the Butthole Surfers opening...great show not to long before Cobain decided to find out what a shotgun shell tasted like.
One weekend in '92 while I was stationted temporarily at langley AFB in Va I got to see the Grateful Dead on Friday(who I really can't stand, But I can say I saaw the Grateful Dead), U2 on Satuday and Rush with Primus opening on Sunday.....the mopst unbelievable concert weekend EVER.
Alter Bridge....Used to be Creed but are now MUCH better IMO with Myles Kennedy singing...He is actually from here in Spokane and my wife and have hung out with him...real cool mellow guy that has an UNREAL voice. SAw them at the Big Easy here in town and they were great.
Slayer recently at the Big Easy also and Megadeth just last weekend at the same place
Saw Blind Melon and Pearl Jam open for Neil Young playing with Booker T. and the MG's at the Gorge in the mid '90's...>WOW
I have also seen Korn, Staind, Slipknot, White Zombie, Lolapalooza, Hatebreed among others.
I do love a good concert.

Some semblance of them yeah. I always thought it was an odd pairing but it was a helluva show.

My husband and I went to see Elvis Costello last week. I was surprised he got the tickets, because it's not his kind of music at all. He really wanted to see Alice Cooper, who was playing that same night in another town.
But he said it was one of the best concerts he'd ever been to, and he;s been to a lot of them. And then he said something about getting old.

The worst concert I've been to was a Neil Diamond one.
My mom won free tickets, so we figured, "What the hell, let's go, why not."
He didn't really play any upbeat songs, and he sauntered around stage going on about how back in the day he had troubles paying his mortgage bills.

With Genesis touring and being popular all over again, I'd give ANYTHING to have seen them play live in the Peter Gabriel years. (Somehow, someday, I vow to see a Peter Gabriel concert before I perish.)
Looking at photos, its unbelievable how Pete could even move & breathe, let alone sing and dance around the stage, in those bizaare costumes.
Anyone here have the fortune of seeing a vintage Gabriel-era concert?

Well, I just got back from the Genesis show here in Denver.
It was tremendous. Totally worth the 15 year wait, and better than I was expecting (and I was expecting a lot).
The light show was amazing, the set list was a great mix of long instrumental pieces and top-40 hits, and all five of the musicians were at the top of their game.
I'm not sure I'll ever see another band balance the complex musicianship with the crowd-pleasing hits in a seamless and powerful set like that again. Just a perfect show.
It also helped that the concert was at the Pepsi Center- about ten blocks away from Coors Field, where the Rockies defeated the Phillies to move on to the NL Championship Series. The guy sitting next to me kept checking the score on his cell phone during the concert. Right in the middle of the band's final song ("Carpet Crawlers"), the Rockies got the last out, and pockets of people around the arena started cheering. It was very cool.

Three drummers hammering tribal rhythms while the singer shouts in Japanese and plays a theramin with some lightbulbs!

Lollapalooza? Homer Simpson was right! The best rock-festival EVER was the US Festival! Three days of great music AND weather. Then they did again 8 months later. I was there...
