Now I introduce you to my love of the pompous and pretentious. I have a soft spot for pretentiousness in artists. Peter Hammill/Van Der Graaf Generator Pink Floyd The Beatles Led Zeppelin Yes Blue Oyster Cult Jethro Tull King Crimson The Rolling Stones Thin Lizzy If I had a second list it would include Traffic, Queen, Cheap Trick, The Moody Blues, Elton John, Black Sabbath, Gentle Giant, ELO, The Move & Renaissance. EDIT: I just noticed that except for Cheap Trick and Blue Oyster Cult, all these are UK bands.

First time I wandered into the music forum. Mainly because I've had a scarcity of time to listen to my music the past year or so. Finally getting back into it though.
The first 5 of these are long established, the others kind of rotate and move around. basically a testament to the difference between the physical media years of my life and the mp3 years.
1. Metallica 2. Barenaked Ladies 3. Bad Religion 4. Beatles 5. Toad the Wet Sprocket/Glen Phillips 6. Protomen 7. Guster 8. Ben Folds (Five) 9. Iron Maiden 10. Don McLean
Honorable Mentions:
10,000 Maniacs/Natalie Merchant, Buddy Guy & Junior Wells, Counting Crows, The Decemberists, Great Big Sea, Jimi Hendrix, Muse, Outkast, The Seatbelts, Tom Waits
Despite not being hip enough to have a music collection consisting of crap nobody's ever heard of, I at least pride myself on the fact that I listen to just about everything. Got another dozen bands at least who actually have a long-ish career whose entire discography I have, plus tons of other random bits.

Alright! There's another "Gentle Giant" fan on here. I was just listening to the "Three Friends" and "Octopus" albums the other day.

Alright! There's another "Gentle Giant" fan on here. I was just listening to the "Three Friends" and "Octopus" albums the other day. Waaay back in the day I was introduced to GG in, of all things, my high school music class. My teacher, who had a huge and varied record collection put on "Knots" for us and I was sold.
