That interception reversal was crazy. The ref explained something about his knee still being on the ground when the ball came loose, but I don't get how that was relative to possession. I mean, he clearly intercepted the pass, rolled over and then lost it while getting up. Possession of the passed ball was never in question. There must be some rule interpretation that I'm missing. Kind of like the tuck rule thingy a few years back, they rarely blow an interpretation after having the time to review it.
As for Pittsburg, their defense looked scary. What did they have, like 6 sacks? Granted, Manning put together a couple of decent drives in the second half... but still.
Crazy week. The lower seeds in both conferences played the best games by far. Steve Smith singlehandedly embarrased Chicago. Pittsburg dominated the Colts for 3/4 of the game. Seattle lost Alexander early, but were sloppy before he got hurt. Denver did great when given a short field, but didn't look terribly impressive otherwise.
Next week will be interesting, neither of the home teams will stand a chance if they don't step their games up and the road guys play like they did this week.

Now, I'm not a conspiracy theorist, and I don't believe the official deliberately tried to screw the Steelers....
But that said, what the hell was with that call?!
I seriously think that subconsciously the official was looking for some way to keep the game going. Maybe he just looked a tad bit harder for some reason to call off the interception than he should have. Maybe he involuntarily fabricated a rule that, in his mind, at that moment, was valid enough to keep the Colts alive. I have no idea, but what happened defies logic enough that I feel validated in looking for an illogical explanation.

While it has no bearing on this contest, and I'm a bit late since the early game has already started, I'm going to pick anyway. I pick against you, Mr. Atari! It's not because Broncos are losing already, I just don't trust Plummer to win the game and I think that's how it's going to play out. Steelers should take this one. I'm also changing my earlier pick on the Seattle-Carolina game. Based on how each team played last week, I think the Panthers take it.

There's The Snake we all know and love! Pressure on? check. Team losing? check. Throw a pass to the most well covered option on the field? check.
I've always been a bit suspect on Roesthlesberger, but goodness he is just doing what he wants so far today. Granted, he got lucky on that one pass that Bailey almost intercepted... but that TD pass on the run was a thing of beauty.
The game is hardly over yet, but Pittsburg has looked great.

The game is now on Jake's shoulders, that spells disaster for the Broncos.

Well, there was someone dumb enough to pick them to be in the Super Bowl. I think he even had them winning. Ladies and gentleman, Pete Prisco is a moron. Just had to point that out.

Well, this is a fine how dee do!
Been writing all day, so I just remember that the games are on...and what do I see? Did Denver just decide to lay down and die?
Now we need to have Seattle lose and we can have all the preseason favorites drop out (assuming that conventional wisdom went Colts, Seahawks, Denver, Patriots).

I'd agree with the Colts and Patriots, but I don't think that the other two were overhyped. I will point out that Zimmerman, of SI, picked the Panthers to win the Super Bowl, and he wasn't alone. Oh, and samptari, have a nice day!

That's true, I'm just saying that the Panthers got a lot of preseason hype. Apparently it was deserved.

Well, if I'm going to dish it out, I'm going to have to take it.
I watched this game with some buddies and here's my take:
Before the game started, I said that whichever team had a good 1st quarter was going to win, because neither team is built to come from behind. After Pittsburgh's first drive, when Bailey dropped an interception, a fumble was overturned, and Foxworth dropped another pick, we all knew it was going to be tough.
Once Pittsburgh was up 10-0, Shanahan unbelievably stopped running the ball. All of a sudden, he's asking Jake to play differently than he's asked him to all season. And while Jake will undoubtedly get the blame for his 2 picks and 2 lost fumbles, it was mostly the defense's fault. They gave up something like 35 straight 3rd down conversions in the second quarter. It was also Shanahan's fault for abandoning the game plan WAY too early.
But they beat us the same way we beat the Pats last week. Turn turnovers into points. And Roethlisberger looked unstoppable. I hope they win for Cowher and Bettis. Good guys.
My buddy summed up my feelings the best. At halftime, down 24-3, CBS showed a panoramic shot of the snow-capped front range (mountains), and he said, "You know, even if the Steelers win, their fans will still have to live in Pittsburgh."
