You know I was thinking, I haven't taken a vacation in nearly 2 years... Hmmm, I think I'm due and late Aug? It might be nice to see the beach, breathe some salt air, laugh my ass off...

It's playing in Manhattan at the Regal in Union Square! This is really great. I've purchased my ticket.
Even better, I just got an email from my Brooklyn MST3K Meetup group. The organizer wants to set up a Meetup around this event. We're going to rendezvous at the theater ahead of time. This is going to be a lot of fun! ;D

That's too cool, Hellcat. Make sure you take some photos for the rest of us I did find out about other markets too, it's a no-go I'm afraid. At least for the live event, but there's the possibility that some areas might get the taped version of the show. Wherever you are, you might be wise to call or write your local theater and find out.

That is indeed cool, Hellcat - ditto everything Torgospizza said. Torgospizza: When you say that about the other markets, does that mean that there's no point in calling any more theaters for the LIVE event? As in, it's up to Fathom moreso than the theater itself whether it's gonna shown anywhere new? (I say this because the theater manager I was supposed to get in touch with tonight left early, so I was gonna try him again tomorrow...)

No no, he just meant that he's there watching "I Love You, Beth Cooper."
He assumed you'd know that.

Well, bad news for us eastern NCers - turns out all the theaters in our vicinity that show digital projections (which is what this event is) are booked with Screenvision rather that NCM, which Fathom works through. Looks like I'll have to see about moving one of my days off to that Thursday or Friday - haven't decided which one yet...

Ithaca, NY...~ 30 miles away. That do-able, unlike when MST3K: TM was released and it would have been ~ 250 miles round trip.

Hmmm.
A theater in Charlotte NC (9 miles away) is showing this. Tomorrow I find out if I can still get unemployment $$ from the State of California (thanks Hoss!), so I may just be there...

I'm a little confused about what's live. Will the Plan Nine riffing be live because they recorded a riffing of that last year?

I'm sure it will feature live riffing. That would be the point of having an audience in Nashville. Right?
But the riffs WOULD probably be the same (mostly) as the ones on the dvd release.
I have an older (signed by MJN, thank you very much) DVD of Plan 9 that Mike did the riffing on by his lonesome. I assume very few of those riffs would be repeated.
And I found out yesterday that The State of California WILL be sending me money. I appreciate all you Cali's working hard, paying my unemployment, so I can squander it on live Rifftrack shows...
