A tremendously exciting announcement today: A RiffTrax Live event that is not only: A) attendable in person if you are near Nashville but B) Attendable if you live near any of the 400+ theaters that will be showing a live broadcast of it! Official page as well as a theater finder here: www.ncm.com/Fathom/Comedy/RiffTrax.aspxBut the major details are: -Mike, Kevin and BIll are riffing Plan 9 in a sweet HD color print. -As well as the debut of a brand new short -Hosted by Veronica Belmont -Musical performances by Jonathan Coulton -Special segments by Rich "Lowtax" Kyanka -Free digital goodies for everyone in attendance -Chances to win more exciting more expensive prizes (details to come) Pretty much, it's going to be sweet, and it's the easiest, most reliable Wink way to do a live show that the most people can see, instead of just a particular city. Plus it's a great way to get the RiffTrax name out there. So please go check it out and bring your friends! UPDATE: If you're nearby Nashville, you will be able to purchase tickets to see the event in person. Tickets go on sale Friday 7/24 at their website: www.belcourt.org/ It's a fairly small theater, so they'll go fast. I'm not sure at the moment how much $$$ they will be.

I saw these guys live in Marin a few years back when they did 'Dare Devil'. IT IS SO MUCH FUNNIER SEEING IN A LARGE GROUP. I laughed my ass throughout the whole thing. If you can, you must go see this performance (live or in theater): www.ncm.com/Fathom/Comedy/RiffTrax.aspx

Somehow don't think a cinema near me will be doing it! Bloody place of birth screws me yet again! Will the short be made available to those who can't go at some point after the event?

This sounds so cool - MAN I would love to go. Unfortunately though, Raleigh is the closest place showing it, which is a good 2 1/2 hours for me. Not only tough to get to in time on a Thursday after work, but also bad for me waking up early the next morning. (Being kinda new at my job, I have very few days off to spare this year...) I'm tempted to contact a nice local theater and politely asking them if they'd consider picking it up - though I've honestly never heard of past Fathom events anywhere closer than Raleigh before. Not sure if just my pleas alone would do the trick...

OK Raja... we gotta make this thing work. Why is it forever being held against us that we live in the middle of nowhere!

They are holding it in two theaters in Baton Rouge and one in Lake Charles, LA. Unfortunately I live in a city that is 60 miles from both of them. LOL. I'll probably miss this one.

Raja, definitely call some local places. Anything that's an AMC or a Regal should be able to do it, but I'm not 100% sure. What I know of the process is that Fathom reached out to theaters all across the country, and I think they got over 90% "approval" - meaning it's up to each individual theater to approve the show.
Calling (or writing an email or snail mail letter) definitely can't hurt your chances.

Oh and the Belcourts a great theater! That's where they showed Manos and what a GREAT time that was, house was packed too. Bummer, just saw the 20th is a Thursday, might have been able to do it on a weekend but not on a bloody weekday. Ah well, such is life

Thankfully we have a rather nice Regal cinema pretty close by, and I just got off the phone with the manager there - he's rooting for us to get it (says he used to enjoy MST3K back in the day), but says I'll have to talk to a general manager, for which he's given me the contact info. That person will be in later today, so I'll try to contact him then. Here's hoping! ;D

Awesome! I also sent an email to our contacts at Fathom, and they were interested to know what markets people were asking about. It seems they are on board to get us on more markets, if at all possible, so I'm waiting to hear back from them to find out what more we can do.

I'm out in the middle of nowhere there's a theater only an hour away showing it! That's almost as good as across the street out here. And I don't have to work early Friday morning. Nice

Yeah, it's playing near me! This is fantastic. I'll have to alert all the MST fans I know about this.
