Many people here have taken MST related names and that makes sense on a MST board. But others have names that only have meaning to themselves. Here's a good way to get to know each other. What does your screen name mean? Is losingmydignity really losing his dignity? Why is Blurryeye blurry eyed? Is Vanhagar really that much a Van Halen fan? And what's a Afgncaap5? Maybe more importantly was there an Afgncaap 1 through 4?
I'll start. Phantom Engineer is the answer to a Bob Dylan trivia question. On the album Highway 61 Revisited there is a song titled "It Takes a Lot to Laugh, It Takes a Train to Cry." Until the album came out everyone in the band thought it was called Phantom Engineer. I liked the sound of it and used it as the name of my local band in the 90's. Anyone else have a story? Even if you have an MST name why does that character mean something to you? Care to enlighten?

And what's a Afgncaap5? Maybe more importantly was there an Afgncaap 1 through 4? Ah, the long and winding story of My Name! I've made a few veiled references to this on this board (most recently, I commented that the letter "f" stood for "faceless" in the forum for posting our personal pictures), but this might take a while. For years, I've been a fan of a computer game series called Zork. I've enjoyed every Zork game ranging from the original "Zork/Dungeon" MUD, to the Zork Trilogy, to the Enchanter Saga, to Wishbringer, to Zork Zero, Beyond Zork, Return To Zork, Zork Nemesis, Zork: The Undiscovered Underground, and Zork Grand Inquisitor. One of the things about the Zork games is that you play yourself. You aren't given a description, a name, a gender, or wildly fantastic physical attributes (with the most noteable exception of Beyond Zork). This made more sense in the Textual games of the seventies and eighties, but in the more recent Graphical games in the late nineties this became something of a hassle, as there were real actors playing other characters and the increasing probability of seeing yourself in a mirror. Anyway, the last Zork game, ZGI, was almost more of a tribute to the series than an actual game, as it was set up in a way that tied the storylines from all of the other games together (most of those focussed on a character called "The Dungeon Master" and events surrounding the banishment of Magic from the world, but there were a few other things). Anyway, this meant that there were lots of in-jokes and references that would be more appreciated by fans of the earlier Zork series than others. Anyway, one of these jokes made reference to the fact that the game makers always had to make sure that the player was incredibly anonymous. They do this early on with a character who's become a disembodied voice in a lantern (played by the same actor who did "Lenny" in Laverne And Shirley). You find the lantern after the first puzzles in the game, rescue it/him, and take it/him to a safe place where the character ask, "Well, time for the introductions. I'm Dalboz, Dalboz of Gurth. And what's your name? <INSERT UNCOMFORTABLE PAUSE HERE/> Ooookay....I'll just call you Ageless-Faceless-Gender-Neutral-Culturally-Ambiguous-Adventure-Person. Or AFGNCAAP for short!" And so the game proceeds with Dalboz referring to use as "Afgncaap" whenever he gets the chance to. Now, I didn't get much Internet exposure until after I had played that last game (circa 1997, I believe), and since I was so excited about finally getting a new Zork game, I wanted my first email address to be afgncaap@aol.com. However, I was very dissapointed (and to this day, I'm still surprised) that "afgncaap" had already been taken as a screen name! So, I just added a "5" to the end of it, found that name to be unclaimed, and proceeded on my merry way. For some reason, I've just used that name every time that I've gone to a public venue on the Internet. The Zork Library Message Board, h2g2.com, when I set up my hotmail account, this place, my eBay account, everywhere. I developed a special fondness to the name on h2g2.com (to this day they tease me about how I've never told them my real name), and I guess it's just stuck to me now. Anyway, that's my long-winded story. I'll get off my soap box now.

Mine is simple, A long time ago I needed an anonmous name to use on the internet, so I picked Mr. W (Mr_w). I later came up with what the W meant in my nick name, Wilbur. I use Mr. Wilbur on SCN.

Is Vanhagar really that much a Van Halen fan? Yes, orginally I liked Sammy Hagar better as a the lead singer but I've morphered with everyone else and gone back to DLR as my favorite lead but I still think Sammy doesn't get his props and is a very good single artist. 'Mas Tequila' is one of favorite songs from his newer albulm plus some his classics like 'I Can't Drive 55' is another favorite.

If you don't know who Torgo is, I'm gonna bitchslap you so hard. Who? /ducks This username I use is an old one I use on bboards such as this, created when the Matrix was the new thing (the first one, that is). It is NOT based on Jet Li's movie of the same name. I didn't even pick up on that until Forrest pointed it out.

I make grain, salt and gold.
But I'm also a great many other things.
In fact, for more information on what a sampo is, visit your local library. Or visit the thread on the Rick Sloane board devoted to explaining the intricacies and distinctives that a sampo embodies.
And for anyone who may not know, it is a reference to episode 422- The Day The Earth Froze.
And once again, for the newer posters, I am not the Sampo from Satellite News. Although I understand we both like cheese.

Ummm, well, mine's kinda simple. You see, Tom Servo is my favorite character on this show you guys may have heard of, called Mystery Science Theater 3000? He sings and makes the bestest of jokes on these movies they have to watch. Ahhh, well, you'd have to see it. The 69 part is not a sexual reference as I'm sure you perverts have thought, it is a reference to the year, 1969, in which most of the great music of the world was released, i.e. Frank Zappa's Hot Rats, The Rolling Stones Let it Bleed, the first two Led Zeppelin albums, etc.
So, there, now you know,
Servo
