Hamels just got suspended five games for that hit. If you're going to enforce the unspoken rules of baseball, don't speak about you enforcing the unspoken rules of the game with the press. What an idiot.

I agree with you, although Harper has been in the big leagues for about a week. I thought it was kind of a poetic justice that Harper stole home after being hit.

Yeah, that was sweet. I like it better when guys get even on the field.
A lot of this unspoken stuff in baseball is complete garbage anyway, as far as I'm concerned. Plunking guys for stealing when they're ahead or because they looked too long at a home run ball has always seemed weak to me. Beat them on the field if you don't like it.
Wonder how quick Hamels would have admitted he hit Harper if he had hit him in the head or seriously injured him. Hey, that's old school, right Cole? What a joke.

Me too! ;D I was sitting by the left field foul pole, so I had a good look down the 3rd base line. When Hamels threw over to 1st base the first time, I said to my friend if Hamels throws over again, Harper's gonna take off for the plate. Unfortunately that turned out to be the only highlight of the night for the Nats.

Just wanted to point out that both the Cubs and the Rockies have won 3 in a row.
I bring it up because it's the only time all season that it'll happen.

Isn't that like one of the signs of the Apocolypse?

Who's that on top of the AL Central? Mod City, would you look that up for me? heh...
Cubs: they have a few outstanding pieces. Castro seems like he's overcoming some of his immaturity (sometimes), Samardzija is only getting better. Give Epistein and Hoyer a couple of years, and I think things should get much better. (Of course...they can almost only get better.)

Yes, yes. The White Sox are atop the AL Central. Not sure if that's them playing well or a matter of the Tigers underperforming, but whatever. Credit where credit is due. If the Twins get anywhere near the race this year, it will be a miracle. That said, it's good to have you back in the fold, Trumpy! Keep the faith Also, the White Sox remain champions of the "we have the biggest ass**** in sports broadcasting" category. I believe they've won this one about 20 years in a row. deadspin.com/5914346/ken-hawk-harrelson-melts-down-after-white-sox-pitcher-ejected-for-throwing-behind-a-batterApparently Bud Selig and Jerry Reinsdorf gave him a call and told him to cool it. Not sure if they could have suspended him or not, but if WGN (or whoever technically employs him) had any class at all they would have given him the boot years ago. Worst announcer in professional sports. Period. I feel better

Yeah, I won't be too sad when he retires. My only regret is that my boys love his catchphrases.

Poor, poor, Steve Stone.

Stone is a regular commentator on local sports radio (670), and a couple of the hosts always give him crap about Hawk whenever I hear him. He doesn't defend Hawk, and I won't say that he's even diplomatic. He just chooses not to comment when they try to get him to react to Hawk's weirdness. It's awesome. Stone just wants to get paid and stay close to baseball. He does make the broadcasts worthwhile, though, and he's the only reason I don't turn down the sound and listen to Ed Farmer.

Went to my first game of the year. Late one for us. Southpaw's birthday, so my boys were thrilled. And I enjoyed seeing Chris Sale's first complete game in person. And US Cellular has Wao Bao this year, so life is good.
