First post as a member, though lifelong MSt3k fan. Just watched season 9's culminating episode and was thoroughly pleased by it, despite its reputation and my overall perspective on it. I know it's a somewhat common occurrence to re-watch an episode later and enjoy a completely novel and enjoyable interpreation upon the second viewing. I was curious as to whether members here experienced that same evolution for this episode, and what other episodes spurred such disparate reactions.

I honestly haven't watched the episode in a while, though I remember not really being a big fan of it myself. I'd have to watch it again to see if my opinion changes.

It's only interesting for the aspect of having Mary Jo Pehl in the theater for a little bit. But, it's still got some funny moments.
"I SEE THEM!!!!! I'M COMIIIIIIINGGG!!!!!!"
Mike: "Cheech Marin?!"

It was interesting, and slightly better than i previously recall. Though there's certainly an upgrade in riffing quality when Mike returns.

Do it for sure. much maligned for years. Something about the modern aspect combined with period quality just appeals to me, so many years later. It has a jovial tone that works, and the riffing is fantastic.

Honestly, I've never had anything against this episode. It's not one of my favorite go-to episodes, but it's definitely one I enjoy.

It's a favorite of mine, though oddly enough it's one I can avoid over-watching unlike Gamera vs Guiron, Manos, Warrior of the Lost World and others; partly because it has Pearl riffing with the bots for a while at the start.
The butchering of history for the sake of a 1990s kids flick is the worst crime of this movie. The acting is mostly okay, all things considered. The budget isn't as bad as some. The costumes, sets and effects were at least average, if not above average for a movie featured on MST3k. It's a typical cheesy movie meant for kids, so you can't take it too awfully seriously.
All that aside, it made for great riffing.
Pearl: "His underwear and his hat are interchangeable" Crow: "Umm... we make LESS when you dance." Mike: "Aren't you glad I broke you out of prison?"
On the subject of the "I'm comiiiiiing" guy; I just have to say this as untasteful as it may be... I can't help but imagine that guy says that during sex, in that exact voice.. >_<

That episode actually has a soft spot for me. It's the type of movie they would have showed us during movie days in elementary school. Heck, they probably did show that to us in 3rd grade and I blocked it out of my memory for all i know.

I just watched this episode for the first time myself. It's fine. I don't know why it has a bad reputation. The movie itself is bad, but in a more generic way. It certainly isn't painful to watch. It wouldn't be in my top five episodes of season 9, but it isn't bad.

I've always sort of assumed it was an episode people were okay with. I may've been wrong.

I remember that Don didn't care for it very much, and I think MJ gave it a poor grade (though I'd have to double check once I get my internet back up and running). I've always liked it and considered it a solid, funny episode. Probably not roll on the floor hilarious, but it always kept my attention for two hours.

So... is this one of those situations where it's "considered bad by committee" but is generally enjoyable when people watch it on its own? All right then. I can get behind that.

I found it an underwhelming episode. I didn't get very many laughs out of it.

The main complaint I remember most people making years ago was the whole "Pearl in the theater" gimmick, and many citing Mary Jo as a poor deliverer of riffs.
What always bothered me about the "Pearl and Mike trade places" scenario is it was fairly uncreative compared to what they did in Season 6's "Last of the Wild Horses" where we end up seeing Dr. F and Frank in the theater due to a "Mirror, Mirror" situation, while in "Quest of the Delta Knights", it only occurs simply because Pearl just felt like switching places.
Overall though it's a fine episode. Also, it's funny to me that *Richard Kind* is in this film. I mean, yeah there's nothing too odd about that, it's just he's one of those actors you'd never expect to turn up in a MST'ed film.
